Default RSOC - rats leaving a sinking ship?

Just found out that the RS500 registrars have resigned probably because of all the subterfuge behind the scenes and 'secret' RS500 forums and the unresolved chassis stamping issue.

Rumours floating around also that the Chairman won't be standing again at this years AGM and also that the President is resigning too.

End of an era?

Prabally due to many things in no particular order...

1) Passionford
2) BMWS/Mercs /Evos
3) Cars are getting older and rarer.
4) Lack of new RS's from Ford even after winning the WRC
5) Same people behind the scenes getting too comfortable and set in their ways.
6) Appauling set up for national day this year.

SECS

Agree 100% i also think that most car nuts my age(24) and younger are buying jap stuff ie glanza turbo's and crx vtecs instead of rst's and skylines, evo's, scoobys instead of cossies. Imo this means there aint no fresh blood into the scene so members are decreasing rather than increasing

i think its possibly a good idea, will give other committee members or newwer members the chance to get on the commitee etc, everyone moans but the only way to change the club is from the inside, so imo it could be a good thing for the club.

From what little I know of it, the RSOC has about ten times to many cheifs and not enough indians.

Seems to be all politics and very little happening really.

Shame cause the local meets ive been to are great with an excellent bunch of lads and lasses

The club can only be as good as its members, those how aren't members shouldn't slag it off.

imo the committe has wrecked the RSOC, majority are a bunch of jumped up tossers.... They are all intertwinded with one another etc.

So political its untrue, and bicker over the stupiedest of things , They have killed the club imo.

Personally I think the club needs to change, now we are in the era of internet BB's you can get the same club belonging feeling for free, meanign that the RSOC offers you very little for your money.

For me the committee and club lost all credibility when Monte-Dan published a copy of their accounts on the forum and it showed the committee had spent Ł30,000 in a year on Hotels and Travelling.

At that point I left and have never looked back.

The RS Owners Club is a huge business, its not just a club and like all businesses it needs decent managers and unfortunately they arent always the people who get a kick out of running a club because its a thankless task too many people who know nothing and give nothing apart from critisism.

from what i have heard, it is way to strict in it's inclusion policies, but thats just what seems to be th emain sticking problem as far as i'm concerned

they don't make new loads of cars, but the jags still have clubs for them things when they get older, you even get memebrs for model t ffs, so it's not just a question of no new stuff coming out

get memebrs, keep members, keep members happy, make more members simple init

I don't blame you one bit. I would want justification of how that money was allocated and who made the spending decisions. There is no way the RSOC needs to spend Ł30k a year on travelling and accomodation.

If this was any other company/charity/association then directors & committee members would be getting investigated.

No wonder the RSOC is under threat. After seeing this I doubt I'll renew my membership

Fancy a look at the current accounts ?

Look here:

Links removed under request.

Please dont post them again.

Not even looked myself as I don't have time!

Will be removed from site in an hour or so as not to blow my banwidth limit etc!

Where does it mention what the money was spent on?

Is there a fancy word for Hotel and Travelling expenses?

I have to say though.........

A club is what the members make it and hats off to the likes of Dingy, the lads at the Central Group and all the other local group organisers who have carried on regardless of the high level politics.

Its not all bad guys...

One of the best days of the year for me is the Central Day at the Pod... its one of the very few RS events we attend now.
