Default Digital PVR's rule!

Bought a "Dual" (no, I never heard of them either ) Digital Freeview PVR last Friday whilst in Asda, as it was on special for £80

But it's wicked! Twin tuner (well, not a true twin, as it's record-one-watch-one only) PVR, and it's so easy to use - makes you wonder how shit VCRs actually are/were!

Only had it a few days, but it's mint - watch anything you like, and just press pause Or rewind anything if you missed a few words, or wanted a replay etc... And SOOOOOOOOO easy to record shit on TV - just look in the EPG to see whats on, and see something you like, just press the REC button and thats it - now scheduled for recording, whether the unit is on or off at the time

Recorded Prison Break tonight, and then started watching it 15mins after it actually started. Just pressed play on the current recording, and it started from the beginning, and I was able to fast faroward though all the credits, then the ads, etc...

Top bit of kit, for not a lot of dosh!!!

Jase - yeah, £80, in Asda

Billy - yeah, I had heard that, but this isn't the same Dual I shouldn't think! The box itself is basically just a rebadged/fascelifted Digihome/Digilogic box, which in turn was just a rebadged Goodmans box. Reckon Asda commisioned a shit-load to be made with one of their electrical company names on them

But either way, for £80, it's a top bit of kit! sure it ain't no all singing-all dancing PVR like a Topfield or Humax, but it's till cool Plus it has no fan, so it's silent as fuck!

Doesnt the Dual refer to the twin tuners? £80 sounds like a billy bargain to me.

NAD are pretty decent stuff, they used to sell through high end dealers i think

I still want a Sky+ but im too cheap to spend £100 on one when i never watch telly

I thought NAD made pretty good seperates. I had some a tape deck, tuner and amp from them years ago. Was rated very highly at the time I seem to remember. Grey with big green on off button as I remember.

You can watch one and record one at the same time or Watch two live. ALso allows you to pause live TV.

I bought the goodmans one from Asda a few weeks ago for 90 quid and its been spot on . Would be good if you could record two at the same time but not the end of the world. If you pay for a better unit your get that option but then your talking over double the price of the goodmans one so no longer a bargain

I bought a twin tuner digi PVR last year.

Best thing I've bought in a long time.

The one I got was the Digifusion 80Gb effort Argos did but was really hard to get hold of. Paid about £40 it

Nah, Dual is the "brand name" (or marketing name)

No, it's just a digital TV recorder. You can get Top Up TV (but nowadays you have to have a specific box for this) that has "on demand" services, like NTL/Virgin's TVDrive/V+ etc....

There is a firmware update on the net which allows you to change this to a proper twin tuner, meaning you can record two channels at the same time, but at a cost of reducing the EPG to only two days, as it uses the EPG's memory to store the firmware revision. For me, I can't be bothered, as I don't often record anything much, so unlikely that I'll suddenly find all the time that two programmes clash - and if they do I'll record one and watch one

You'll find you'll record a LOT more with a PVR Thrush. I know I did, I ended up with a shed load of stuff in the library I really didn't have time to watch
