Default RS Turbo heatsok issues

I was wondering if anyone could confirm whether the RST actually suffers as much heatsoak from the charge carrier being strapped to the rocker cover as a lot of people actually think.

I have read somewhere that the air is forced through so quickly, it doesnt have a chance to heat up.

But then again, I have seen the XR3i inlet used to lower the temps.

Are you certain the XR3i style inlet was used for this reason and not another ?

The air passes through the x-over pipe so fast it really makes very little difference, you certainly wont notice it. But i guess every little helps.

What would be another reason to use it then? Just for looks? Or does it have better flow charecteristics?

Anyone?

After thinking hard about it, surely the inlet tracts closer to the throttle would get more air in?
