I'd personally expect the one going in to be hotter than the one coming out of the matrix due to heat loss but not much different.

Have you tried bleeding the system? You could have an airlock.

Best way of bleeding any car I believe is to run it up to temp with the exansion cap off and the heater on hot.

I don't think there's a special way for a cossie I normally squeeze the hoses but that might be just because I'm bored

both sides of the heater pipes should be hot

if its 4wd theres a bleed nipple on the stat housing

you could take both pipes off the matrix and run a hose pipe through it to see if it is blocked or not

you can but it would be best to take it out while its off

when i had to do mine i took the nipple out and ran the engine

nothing came out so there was a major airlock somewhere

i blew into the header tank and it started to flow again

also check to see if you have a thermostat

theres no gaske between the faces so you will need a tiny amount of sealant to put the cover back on

i think the therostats open at 82 degrees or thats when the fans kick in

i carnt remember and havnt got my manual here as my mates got it

but yes it should open before boiling point

what temp on the gauage do the fans kick in aswell

as if the stats late to open then the fans could kick ing and coll the water down before the water has chance to bve released form engine and flow round

with no stat the car will run cooler!

as the stat holds the water in the engine so when its at temp it opens and flows round the engine through rad etc to keep it cool

so the heaters will be cooler than what they are now

but if the stat is opening late the heaters should be very hot and and the car will be running hotter aswell

so now im lost

need to have a think about it now

but surelly if the stat dont get a chance to open cos the fan kicks in before it can open then there will be NO water going to the matrix which mean no warmth whatsoether! but if i take stat out then fair enough it wont be very warm but there will be water going in with a little heat?

the water will circulate around the heater etc before going into the rad after the stat opens.

sounds like its not being pumped round to me.

if the matrix was blocked, one pipe would get hot, the other remain cold.

i take it there is water in it lol???

touch the rad too, should be hot all over etc

make sure its the rite one

as most suppliers give you a small one

i can only get them from ford

and keep that rubber seal that goes round the stat as you can only get this in a stst from ford and no other

Sounds like it's either not getting pumped around or its blocked somewhere then. Try flushing it through with a hose.

when up to temp the rad should be hot, not warm!!

whats the inside of the header tank look like? is it all clean or is it dirty shitty water??

shounds like you need to give it a good flush though as in take the rad off and connect a hose pipe, and flush engine/heater matrix etc

but i still reckon the water pump might be fucked
