When I bought my XR2 last year, I got hold of the New Keeper Supplement of the log book and left Sections 1 to 8 with the previous keeper to send off.

Since then,I have never received a replacement log book in my name, which leads me to think maybe the previous keeper never sent the old one off. Anyway, I know for a fact that since I bought the car, the bloke has moved house.

I have a V62 here from the post office and wish to send it off with the New Keeper Supplement attatched (to avoid the £19 fee) however my question is, will the write to the previous owner to confirm change of keeper (even though the New Keeper Supplement is supplied) or not? Just if he is not living at the address on record anymore then it is obviously going to provide difficulties...

just send in the form with the new keeper part and wait and see what happens, they should send you the log book over, if not then just ring them up like i did and they will know you have sent the v62 and send you your log book.

i waited ages for mine when i bought my new car even though i sent off the v62 with new keeper part, waited 4-5 months and nothing came so rang them up (dvla)and they had it noted on there computer i sent the forms through so they sent me it after i called them

If you have your half of the log book they dont charge you the £19

Ring them up to confirm this.

But 99.9% sure you wont have to pay.

they usually write to the previous owner, and if they dont deny selling you the car, or dont respond after a set time theyll send you a new log book, thats how i understood it anyway when i had to do and it was explained to me
