215-220mph, as that is what he has geared it for . But as I said, it would achieve this from a standing start in one third of that distance .

Rod has developed his car around achieving his speed in as short a distance as possible, as we only have short airfields to do it on. If we had a five mile one, Rod would COMPLETELY redesign his engine / gearing spec to suit. So it would be difficult to say what it would do, completely changed.

Mike is correct the limiter is set at 218.9mph which is hopefully out of reach. The 206 was set with the limiter at 210.2mph & Mark hit it at 1.41miles & cruised through the timing beam. The annoying thing is if it had been damp as at 5th gear, accleration would have slowed & 210 achieved officially, such is record breaking.

Purely as a referance calculation with 920bhp mine would battle on to 235 before surcomming to aero dynamics completely. Its very unlikely my present Spec engine would survive the 1min or so that would take it would also take about 3.5miles. Im so glad there are no 5 mile straights over here .

So rod, would your car hit 200 faster than the Veyron then, as posted on another Veyron thread I remember on top gear clarkson saying that if the veyron was sat still and the mclaren passed the veyron at 120mph (something like that) the veyron would still reach 200 faster. So the Veyron is doing 0 - 200 in less time than the mclaren is doing 120 - 200. that's some difference!

At the moment NO but it will be closer in the new Spec.
Veyron is 20.5 ( ive seen several times from 19.98 to 21)
That is 4 secs faster than mine on our last timed run. We would hope to be in the 22's next time so getting closer. In gear 60-200 is much closer & we will be a match I suggest in that area. (0-60 2.5/4.09)
Please remember the Veyron is a standard car & cannot sensibly be compared to mine, but it does show just how fast the old girl is & it will go quicker for sure.

Amazing, just shows what you and Mark have done. I know it's not possible to fairly compare the two but like you say, it gives you an idea of just how fast your car is.

With the size of the veyron engine what realisticly would it be capble of? If it was to be re-tuned to knock out more power how much more would it need to further carry on through past its cuurent top speed? or would aerodynamics overcome the actaul car design at some point?

it's just to damm heavy shit round a track whit shorts straights and many
corners to much fuel consumption etc.
Rod's sierra is much more cooler.

I would take that over the veyron.
Here is example why is useless i can't shake a bmw z3 coupe in the corners it's only good for a straight road.

pmsl, you'd rather have rod's sierra than a Veyron? Granted rod's car is cool (for a saph) but fuck off if you're honestly trying to tell me you'd take it over a veyron.

That video proves nothing. The veyron is hardly trying to corner fast. The guy driving could be a 90 year old oil tycoon with one leg and never driven a car before for all you know. All it proves is that the z3 if that's what it is has to rag his car to keep up with a veyron that isnt even trying.

Rod's already said on this thread that his car is 4 seconds slower than a veyron to 200. I have a funny feeling the veyron would go faster down brunters than rods car (in it's old spec) who knows what the new spec car will do.

and with the greatest respects to rod his car is just a very fast engine in a light ford shell ...the veyron is just in a league of its own and remember the veyron gt comes out soon with 1200hp and they're aiming for 272mph
