We've had an insurance claim through from NZ due to some wanker in Auckland port miss reading the shipping instructions & turning on a reefer motor. Not usually a problem.................. But this was full of personal household effects!
And there it sat for 3 days, chilling...................
Fucking ruined everything!

i used to work on the stand by boats for 4 years & i've seen some weather like i even got a written warning once becouse it was new years eve 2004 & obviosly your not alloud drink on board but it was new years eve so every cunt had drink any way the boats head was towards the wind all night as there was 70 mph winds & 13 metre waves & i was on watch in the wheel house from 8 - 12 at night & every hour i was supposed to go around the boat checking evry thing out incase things fell over or doors open witch there was 1 door open at the stern but becouse our head was in the wind all night i never shut it, so we swapped shifts at 12 & the first thing the second mate does us turn her round to drift back to the rig & all of a sudden a massive wave came in the back door, 6 ton of water splashing about the ship, there was peoples stuff floating about every where so every body is up trying to clean this water up & theres 3 of us all pissed & laughing like fuck slipping on it etc

Just right clicked the pic wi the HUGE wave washin over the ship, titled as Selkirk Settler, a quick search and it appears the pics were taken in 1987(sad c**t i know, searchin for more details).....
Here's the pics with a wee note about when they were taken...almost exactly 20 years ago!!!!

in all seriousness tho, its amazing to think how the sea works etc and the tides etc. And sounds stupid, but it amazes me to think how many people are at this very moment in time out at sea and not on definete dry land.
I'd love to experience such a thing. Is there such careers on oil rigs where your taken on as a trainee and taught a trade etc?

The picture of the large tanker makes me laugh, those things are designed to punch through waves instead of backing of like smaller boats, also the motion is quite slow, nothing mental and fast like some might think.
