Awesome and scary pics!
Franco - one for you, I often see the FFE units on the back of trucks leaving the docks over here. How long can they run for and what do the run on? The fridge units on our trailers for the trucks can only hold about 200 litres of diesel which keeps them going only a matter of days. Just wondering if something was coming from Europe to here, how it lasted?
More info on the Emma Maersk and looks like Franco was correct with the terminology:

Some nice waves there! Amazing the strains those ships can handle!
I`ve also been shocked of how fast the weather and waves change during winter! Luckily I usualy work at "Sleipner A" wich is a Con-deep constructinon. But still we have expirienced waves doing damage to the cellardeck and grating wich is 30meters over the normal surface of the water.

what immense pics.so much power and life in them.i wouldnt like to have been there really but i have a want to know jus what its like for some reason.if there something that is powerful and unpredictable its mother nature.she can catch you out with so many seemingly friendly things, water is one, wind is another.they can be so calming and gentle at times and then violently detructive the next.
ive always wanted to go tornado chasing in the usa,one day i will get there.the sea though?not so sure as i would prob be chucking up everywhere due to my balance,i have an inner ear problem that makes me dizzy so i,d be a wreck

That one scares me big time.I suppose if everything is battoned down and its sort of watertight you stand a chance.they must think of these things when they design them.

Thanks all, best i take a camera with me now!
going to look like a complete geek!
The Reefer boxes mate
(FFE is a term used by Maersk to be awkward, its another form of counting containers. IE TEU = 1 x 20'GP/NOR FFE 1 x 40'GP / HC).
If so these boxes have independent motors attached and will run as long as you can keep them powered!
Big call for Reefers in NZ due to all the lamb!
I'll get me coat!...........................
