Ive got a 1.4SR Nova track car and its good fun on track, the 2.0 8 Valve is a strong engine and a bit lighter than the 16 Valve.
Go for it, will be a proper good laugh

For £400 you will have loads of fun
Although for £400 you could find a semi alright Pug 205 gti which would make the nova look like a lada
You WILL need to spend money on the nova to stand any chance of it handling with a big block under the bonnet

stick to tke 8v, stick a fast road cam in it and straight through exhaust, did this on an asrta, it had a 2ltr 8v cav sri engine, it surprised a few people.
