xbox 360 to hdtv
howdy.
I am looking at getting a new tv, what I want to know is does the xbox connect using hdmi cables or only with the 5 in 1 lead that comes with it?
reason is..
I am looking at a phillips tv, it has 2 hdmi connections but no 5 lead connection. if the 360 can connect with the 5 lead then i only need a tv with 1 hdmi... ie want at least 1 hdmi connection left so can get a hddvd player at some point...
the tvs with only 1 hdmi connection seem to be cheaper.
does this make sense???
thanks

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i think i get it,
at the mo i need to use the cable with the 5 leads on it that came with my 360 not a hdmi cable....

is this right???

..and green..LOL....thats the only way to get HD from the XBOX unless you use the VGA cable...if you new TV has that input then it could be a way to go...i have seen both and in HD its STUNNING.

Just so you know my brothers Tv only had an hdmi port so we used the vga cable and bought a cheap adapter from vga to hdmi from a computershop (pc world if i remember rightly) and this works perfectly. an advantage of a vga port on a modern tv is that you may be able to use a feature called picture in picture. where a small portion of the screen becomes a different input like the tv while you play games etc.
i hope that helps.
Cheers,
Matt.

use the rgb connections plus the speaker inputs, the yellow lead is then made redundant
there will be another lead with other stuff on it and where the spit it there is a little slide switch to swap between the 2
you've got to switch them with the box turned off apparently
i'll go back and tell you what i mean when i get home, nipper allowing else he just pulls shit from the wall

Xbox 360 will only output the highest HD mode (1080p) when using VGA.
so save your component inputs for something else and get a VGA cable, but stick to the microsoft one and not a cheap copy.
