I did a BA (Hons) in Computing and Information Systems at Brighton Uni, 4 year course spent the 3rd year working in second line support for a big London law firm.
2 weeks after graduating I got a contract job working for another law firm in London and that led to me being taken on permanently this month at the same firm for just over £30K

Collierm I was leaning towards networking & Comp systems. What sort of things does it include and would you recommend it? Did your placement offer you the job?

alright mate, i too hate programming, java sucks!!
im currently doing a degree in computer networks and ditributed systems @ Napier uni in edinburgh
the first year of the course is generic for all the computer related degrees, so u have to do a bit of programming at least.
in the 2nd and third year u choose which path u wanna go down
as for me i wanna be asome sorta network engineer. i also get the opportunity to go on work placement in the 3rd year with companies sush as IBM, Sun and even microsoft.
mind u i was 26 when i started and im hanging about with 18 year olds all day, takes a bit of gettin used to!
good luck with it all

I did Business Information Systems Management at Bournemouth Uni. Was a really good course with only a little programming. More management focused.
I went from there into an IT Manager role with 60 users accross 3 states of Australia then onto an IT Project Manager role now with the company that bought us out.

Then there is the other side, also did C programming, Unix work. Fairly intense, but totally rewarding. To be honest a lot of it I don't use now, but its nice to have the know how. I now work in a 3rd line server support role in the North East which is where I want to be.
No, the placement didn't offer me a job. I didn't like my placement and looking back I was too eager to take the first job offered and didn't really consider what I wanted from it. Take your time to think about what you want before jumping in.
Cheers
