Simon get your ass to edinburgh!
Unfortunately we have lost progression with was a fantastic "proper" house night, not cheesy house but beats, baselines, groove's and a few uplifters to boot!
Cracking DJ's like sharam, dubfire, danny howels etc...
However luvley is in its place, not as grooving (if you know what i mean) but good.
Get up for the festival in august, international club festival has now become part of it and qujite honestly its awesome

Your obv going to the wrong places if you think there aint any.
Pretty sure daves "aint got a clue" comment is refferin to that. If you want the best of ANY music you dont go to some mainstream place anyhow do you.
I dont go out just to prance around like a prick in general, im heetrosexual, so i go wherevers best to get on fanny, and its not easy to crack on while everybodys jumping round sweating like cunts and waving glowsticks, so its nowhere near any trance and shit.
BUT sometimes, usually if its some obscure non weekend night when there no fanny out anyhow, or someone proper good like Skibba is gonna be there, THEN its time for some DnB (House/Trance is hom full stop IMO).
So to sum up, most fuckers go out to go pull some sluts, not to dance around like a cunt, so its far less popular than maybe it once was, but you must be going to some pretty wank places if they not got at least 1 floor playing dance.
AND if you want GOOD dance music or whatever, dont go to the mainstream places anyhow

Not a great fan of the rnb but seems thats all they play round this area.Apart from the ever increasing cheese bollocks.
They sometime launch a good dance tune in and everyones goes nuts as said above then they go back to the rnb.. feck em
When I was up in Blackpool last year at the syndicate was the last time I heard some propper tracks being played.. Mind you Paul Oakenfold was on the decks

I dont like r&b, hip hop or main stream garage, but if thats what brings in the crowds, then thats what is played.
Bring back the old days when i used to go to Bagleys all-nighters althougth thats not really clubbing in the accpeted sense. Its just a mass rave with thousands of people gurning off their face due to, too many pills

I think the difference is this.
When you go to a club that plays R&B, because that sort of stuff is so mainstream, and is basically the basis for nearly all pop music, you don't get any passion for the music. However, that's what makes that sort of night what it is.
I like a bit of RnB/Hip Hop etc, mostly when in the car, and usually on normal nights out, as the music is easy.
However, when you go "clubbing" in the traditional sense, you're going specifically to hear non-mainstream music. As a result, most people who attend know their music, and are passionate about the individual tunes that get played. That's why raves etc had such a good atmosphere back in the day - bunch of people all with a passion for the same music, and all out to have a good time, with the music being the main focus.
RnB just doesn't have that, as the attitude is very different in that scene. There, it's all about showing how much cash you have (or not) by buying the most ludicrously overpriced crap champagne, the women, the drinks etc....
We did Hed Kandi on NYE and it was blinding. Proper funky house - was dancing pretty much all night.

trancey pancey poncey house is equally as bad as r+b bullshit imo......
one is popular with kids and one with the people who turned down the rave scene because it was too full on for them, probably too concentrated on the points pon has rightly mentioned
fuckin plastic armchair ravers down their local club giving it large to the latest commercial load of shit out there havent got a clue about music or clubbing

Im more of an hiphop/rnb person now but back in the day used to love the hardhouse, hardcore/techno stuff. Imo alot of this kind of music has become to mainstream now which has killed it for me. Alot of the new stuff just seems to be remixes of the classic old tunes (and bad ones at that)

Ive been a "Professional" dj for around 5 years now... 5 years ago all the birds used to request all the rnb etc, but now i find that more women are coming up and requesting house music... i think rnb has had its time.
