v6s are cheap as chips, get a whole granada cosworth for a few hundred quid on ebay.i dont see any point at all putting it into an escort, its a 2nd rate cousin to the yb in my eyes. and the escos was based on the 4x4 sapphire cosworth.

the ford V6 escorts that you are on about were based on the escos chassis which is why everything bolted in almost directly, as the wigster has said, they were based on the saph which has the same sort of pick up points as the granadas

buy a whole granada 24V, chop the floor of and weld it to the escort

or call gartrac

er...the v6 IS rwd!you wont find a front wheel drive one of these!,quaife six speed would cost eleventy million times more than the rest of the whole car!
just bolt it into a sierra if anything with a standard 5 speed unit.

you can buy a sierra with it all done for less than it would cost to convert

there is much more involved than just bolting in a gearbox as they don't really come onto the market as you need 2 boxes to make into one to bolt onto the back

the conversion is VERY good as a cheat bolt in conversion on a budget.

in my opinion it is THE BEST conversion you can do to any non-cosworth sierra.

if you're looking at spending a few quid or extracting any more than standard power, i'd reccomend you look at going YB.

i've thrown a LOT of money at a non-cossie v6 sierra, and for the same money i could have had a properly sorted 500bhp cossie

you can use a 4x4 box from an xr4x4 2.8 or 2.9, you can also use the xr4i type 9 box, but don't expect it to last forever

best way is as dojj said for rwd, xr4x4 front half of case, 2wd mt75 rear half.

ain't that the truth

you can buy a decent 24V converted sierra for around the £2k mark or you can buy a nice sierra and then find anotehr few quid to get a granada and do the swap and it'll cost you lerss money but more time

don't forget the thigns like getting the brakes and suspension sorted for the bigger (much heavier) engine either, i put the 24V springs on the sierra and, with the normla twinkly lump in there it sat around a foot in the air i kept looking for the axle stands

The escort cosworth shell is unique.

Its a shortened sierra floor pan with brand new designed panels.
The ONLY original escort body bit is the boot lid from a Mark 5
and possibly the fuel cap too.
