When I was 17 got done for speeding (3 points) then i got done with careless driving (6 points) after resiting my test, at the age of 18 i was getting quotes of £2500 for a 1 litre nova.
so i ended up getting a granada scorpio and insured it through my dad, £1000. aint too bad when you realise its a 2.9

6000 on a cossie a few years ago. at least some/most had the sense to say theres no point quoting due to my age. cant believe they actually quote 6000 thinking people will accept them! (being old fords i mean - no lambos!)

same as aj here, i rang around nearly every company that put an ad in the yellow pages when i got my 3 door and the reply was always "we would not be able to offer you a quote on that car" (i think they were offering to insure me but there were 5 figure sums involved)
fair play as i'd only actually been able to drive for about 3 months before i got wiped out
got my cousin to have a word with my other cousin who said "sorted, go and get minicab insurance, 3 party fire and threft with cabby only but you only pay £60 a month"
so, thats is how i insured my 3 door for only £720 a year at age 19 with 3 months experience
then i got the saph and the quotes became resonable at around the £5-600 mark
then the estate, but once i'd got turbo's on it, no one would touch me, quite literaly no one would insure it as soon as i mentioned "twin turbo" and "double the horsepower"
eventually got it for £1100 but with a whopping £800 excess
and now i've come full circle to insure the estate again with someone and the first thing they ask is "what sort of power are you knocking out" and then there is a whistle of breath as the "consult their manager/call me back"
fair play as i'd only actually been able to drive for about 3 months before i got wiped out
