Default eBay Power Sellers.......

Anybody on here a powerseller (im sure there are many)

Basically ive been offered it for the second time now, but i see today ive got emails from eBay about significant changes to the end user agreement and how this affects registered VAT sellers etc.

So basically my question, because my eBay account is a personal account (so i dont pay VAT as i dont trade), does the powerseller scheme affect VAT or anything like that, because you have to sell quite a lot in order to qualify! And im sure most powersellers are businesses.......

thanks in advance people

i'm a power seller but only due to the amount of money my items sold for, so i just make the minimum seller standard

it has had no affect on my VAT etc, i just trade as normal privately selling odds and sods lol

Ive just read about power sellers, im not going to do it now because i wont be able to keep the minimum requirement up as i tend to go through phases of selling!

Having a big clearout at the moment, once its gone i wont be selling much.

boXXer, the email isnt very easy reading but i dont think it will affect people who dont have a VAT number (personal account)

eBay increasingly is becoming very complicated, and i dont' like it!

TBH, i think they are kicking themselves in the bollox. Thier fees are so expensive now, especially if you use paypal too. We need a new auction site i think. Are there any about?

I am a power seller but only becuase I sold so much over 2 months, I won't be selling enough this month so I will drop back down, I think I will create my own website and just list a couple of items on ebay for the advertising

Ebay fees have always included VAT, so this makes no difference to sellers. I think what the notice from eBay is saying is that previously the gross amount sellers were charged included 17.5% VAT and now it includes 15% VAT, but the gross amount stays the same.

i.e.
Before
Fee = £10.00 (£1.75 VAT and £8.25 net) with VAT @17.5%

now
Fee = £10.00 (£1.30 VAT and £8.70 net) with VAT @ 15%

If you are VAT registered then it stays the same too, as you can become excempt from paying the VAT by registering your VAT number with eBay.

HTH

Cheers,

Natalie

luckily we have a vat number as unlike many we are registerd with the inland revenue and customs and excise,
all ebay are doing is drawing a huge floodlit ring around the folk trading on there who are not registerd,get ready for a few early morning raids by mr and mrs customs and excise officers.

yes,the odd few things they arnt botherd about,but the bedroom traders are in real trouble,a friend of mine is a very top vat inspector,although she cannot be specific about cases she can talk generally and this is something the govenment have been watching for a while,as the whole world can see whats selling they cannot hide anything!!
