starlet turbo forum:

its quite a few pages but quite interesting! One claimed (and well backed up) 11.8 1/4mile on standard engine internals running 1.8bar!
Obviously half the power figures are bollox (350+ horses from under a bar of boost pmsl!) but some of the times are v impressive for such few mods.
Anyone had any experience of these cars? wouldnt mind one if i were to decide to stay in Oz for a while longer.

When I was interested I couldn't find many specialists in the UK, all the quick ones are in Asia/Oceania. The big power claims are from engines transplanted from MR2's and Celica's. Light as fuck.

Our tuner here has Starlet with a Merkur XR4Ti engine in it(2.3 cyl turbo) pretty much standard with ported head upped boost and IC and his first time running was 12.5's! they are light cars. mild power engines can see it trotting down the 1/4 rather quickly.

The one that runs 11.8 also has slicks & nos and also weighs (as standard!) 380kg less than that of a cosworth, i'd say a fully stripped out & lightened one could even manage to get it to half a ton in difference.

they just seem very impressive in mild form - which would be perfect for me as i wouldnt have that many facilities over here, but im sure i could manage to install a wide band lambda, water injection and a bleed valve hehe
