I've worked a few, most high mileage (taxi's) there seem pretty good started motors do go on a few and some time's if the clutch is crap it'll also need a fly wheel there not cheap. apart from that just normal stuff anti roll bar links and rear subframe bushes, they have finaly got a front lower arm that doesn't need replacing every other service like the mk 1
+2's and there's no cambelt to worry about

Try and stick to under 120thousand miles and you should get something worth keeping for a couple of years.
Good for mileage as long as you keep up on the basic, oil, fuel and air filters, and oil of course.

my cousin has the 130bhp model on a 52 plate. I drove us home last night as he had a drink and drove it today also. Its really nice to drive, has leather heated seats and all sorts
I'd love an ST TDCi

In my opinion there isn't much between the the 130 or 150 until top end, the 150 really comes into it's own in 6th when you nail the throttle and you take of just the same as you did in third!
But obviously you won't be doing that often which makes the 130 the better all rounder.
It's a fairly good car though, just watch for start-up clattering, poor starting when cold and clutch judder as all will bring expensive bills.
Passats, and tdci 115 focuses are also very good diesels for similair money?
