Default Single greatest thing/event you have ever seen?

Possibly an interesting topic

What is the single greatest thing or event you have ever seen, in your opinion?

(ps, childbirth is excluded from this as I bet virtually everyone with kids will say that - so it's single greatest thing/event APART from childbirth lol)

Steve - I lead a boring life so have nothing to say

The only thing I can think of, would possibly be seeing the world from thousands of feet above it? (as in, on a plane)

cossie41 - then think of something else

seeing my football team Hearts ,lift the scottish cup twice was amazing, especially in 1998 when we won it for the first time in over 40 years.its a special event when you support one of the 'little' teams and this rare triumph led to over 250000 people lining the streets for the open top bus parade and people dancing on the roofs of police vans etc without problem even having 2 kids didnt compare to this for sheer euphoria.non football people just wont understand this though

The greatest thing I have ever seen is myself in a mirror

Probably some of the things I saw on Safari in Africa, One of the most memorable was an elephant of a few weeks old, on its knees trying to stretch its trunk into a watering hole, Some of the older Elephants saw this and were shoving each other out of the way to feed it.

The most harrowing was late December 88,
My sister had moved upto Hamilton from our Manchester family home after getting married the previous April, so we (me, mum and dad) were going up to spend xmas with them,
Then The Lockerbie air disaster happened a couple of days before we were due to go,
Checking news reports we found that the A74 was passable so the plans went ahead,
We set off, fully knowing that we will be passing a disaster scene, but our thoughts or idea's were a million miles away from what we would take in.

A nice drive up, then a few miles beforehand the wildlife that we would see in the tree's, the crows on the hard shoulder etc were all gone as we passed under a bridge about a mile from the scene, an eerie feeling, then we passed under another bridge and wallop, carnage,
Luggage strewn either side of the carriageway and across the field to our left, Firemen picking up belongings, some sat on the central reservation, looking exhausted, then to the right just a smouldering crater, This continued until we passed under another bridge, no carnage or luggage, just that same empty erryess(sp) that we had before, then a couple of miles further on normality.

A very strange and unforgetful day in my life.

Reading Big G's one there, I suppose I could add seeing Ground Zero as one... Again, purely for the eeriness and solomness of it all.... But, I never saw it (first hand) before, so hard to pin it as much....

One of the greatest thing/experiances was when Wales won the Grand Slam. I have never been in a place that had such a good atmosphere, feeling in all my life! Was amazing nothing comes close for the feeling of that day.

Was bullied at school, went about it all the right way after it got my sister involved(i wanted to smash the cunt but police were involved) school kicked out for the last day and he was waiting for me with about 4 other lads....I got so far and was beaten shitless and then had a knife put to my throat while his mates dared him to kill me......Left me with a scar on my head...bearing in mind this went on for fucking years and i mean years......

Cut to a 8 yrs later and never guess who i run into yup same cunt, i was in an old escort and he was crossing the road...he looked at me i looked at him and we clocked each other, didnt have to think twice and i ran the prick over.

Thats my event.......

I went to the world war one battlefields/memorials in belgium, which was pretty sobering. Sadly one of our group fainted in a chocolate shop so we spent a few hours parked outside the hospital in the bus. Walking in/along the trenches (knee deep in mud and it was pretty sunny) and through the gun museums/cemetries was quite a shock to the system mind.

Joe...............................

Bet after you did that to the coont it was a case of quick stylee!!!!

Couple of things stick in my memory as being great events for me.
One was meeting and speaking to Steve Hislop a couple of weeks before he was killed in a helicopter accident. Watching him going round a race track when he was on form was truely amazing, really admired the bloke and was my sporting hero and was absolutely gutted when heard about his accident. A very friendly and approachable (sp!) guy who was a genius on a bike, especially round the TT course. (real tears)

Also was lucky enough to speak to big Dave Jeffries just before he was killed at the TT, another HUGE talent in the biking world and taken away long before his prime.

Some folks might think these are stupid events in anyones life but to me they are firmly embedded in my mind as being great days in my life and felt priveleged to have met both of them.

good memories were;

Stepping out into wembley stadium for the first time,i hadn't been to many football stadiums and it literally took my breath away!!! (i was about 12)

Liverpool recovering to win the 2005 champions league, from absolutely gutted to complete euphoria in the space of six minutes.....amazing

smashing nearly all outright course records in the '95 British Hillclimb Championship, was one of the most enjoyable years ever (only 13 at the time with no worries and just enjoying everything ,my dad was head mechanic for the team so meant we got to go to every meeting and muck in)

Meeting my current girlfriend, been together 5 years and about to buy our first home

worst memories

Mom walking out on my dad when i was younger....just couldn't understand it all

Driving right by the scene of a fatal car accident about 50miles from home.....only to find out a few hours later it was a close friend he was a very promising young footballer playing for Man U,he'd been out the night before in Redditch and decided to drive to Watford for the game in the early hours (he was on loan, but not playing, this was the opening day of the season))...his car collided with the back of a lorry and burst into flames, still makes me sad now and i think of him pretty often,RIP mate

BEST

In the pits for the 2005 British Grand Prix, had a free pit pass, was out of this world.

WORST

First on the scene of a serious car accident, and had to sit with the man trapped in the car for 25 minutes till the paramedics arrived. and I performed mouth to mouth to try and regain a pulse
Upset me for a very long time.

Seeing Liverpool win CL in 2005.

Being in the Westfalonstadion in Dortmund with about 25k Liverpool fans when L'pool won the UEFA Cup in 2001.

Seeing Barcelona play Liverpool at the Nou Camp

Going to the Spanish Riding School in Vienna and watching the white Lipizzaner stallions perform.

seeing leeds win the championship back in 92 was pretty special.

but being backstage at maine rd in 96 for the oasis gig is probably what sticks out in my mind most. met so many of my hero's that day. weller, burgess, the gallaghers, kelly jones. think only the birth of my children if i have any or my wedding day would top that.

Best

My first lap of the nurburgring in my Evo - life long ambition so to speak

followed by my fastest laps that trip of 8:16 - unreal fun.

Falling in love is all good too

Worst would be - living in Dunblane - knowing Thomas Hamilton - having a mum who is a teacher at the school - being woken up to be told that there has been a shooting at the school and people are dead but no-one is releasing details and then awaiting to find out if you mum is dead or alive. - forunately she was alive for me - however the whole situation was just so so bad with so many you kids dead

Best Thing

I performed a warm up set before Judge Jules at the Guildhall in Northampton last year and he brought Eric Morrilo with him and I partied with them
Was an experience of a lifetime.

Worst Thing

I saw a head on accident happen in front of me between a cement mixer and a rover 200.
The guy in the rover 200 was in a very poor state of affairs, I had to help the paramedics with their duties, sadly he died half hour later as I was holding him.

The sad thing was all the childrens toys on the back seat, knowing he had a familly somewhere that were totally unaware of this.

when my cossie started for the first time

no my best event was seeing my wife walking down the isle on my wedding day..........and the speech her dad gave at the reception( my wife has crohns disase and was/still is very very ill and he said things like i work hard and i look after her and hes proud to be my father in law etc/etc, gave me a large lump in my throat.....just before my speech!!)............then 2 years later she decided she had enough and fucked off. ..did the mum and dad stick up for me did they fuck ......anyway shes gone now..onwards and upwrds as they say....so that was my worst event ....

.also finding a lump in my private parts and thinking the worst ....then being told its not cancer ....

and my bike crash hitting a statonary car at 70mph isnt good ..............and walking away from it is unheard off the paramedics words.."its a fucking miracle..god is looking over u today!!"guess he was right

Best sight i've seen, and i haven't seen a lot. so
Top floors of World trade centre with full ceiling to floor glass windows the view was astonishing, looking down on things like they were micro machines!
Best feeling, sitting on a beach in st tropez sipping beer at sun down surrounded by wealth and rich people, knowing i just ragged my L reg clio down there flat out being a common brit and not having a care in the world.

Best thing

Being told the 6" tumour they dug out had not spread & I was a lucky bugger, this ranks along side seeing my second child born.
More recent my own personal 200 run was very special also, cos now I dont need to do it again.

Worst thing

The 10 days waiting for the results of that test, managed to stay fairly positive but knew if it had spread to my Lymph glands I was a goner.
