im not saying there shite or dont know there stuff it highly obvious they do with the cars they build but what pissed me off was

1 they ran it on the rollers and done a power run on the gearbox i wanted sorted when i specifically told them not to!!

2 my engine let go for what ever cause "been told they held it to long" but is irrlevent it happened and is sorted.

3 alan told me my box is fine and the car never moved afetr it left ava.
andy stripped the engine and box straight away and the box was fucked??

4 i got charged for that privellage.

cum on?

Like what has been said before in this thread think the fact that ava only give wheel power causes people to have problems with the readings they get there.
It is one of the big things you notice on this site, some people give wheel figures, some give fly and others dyno power gets a bit confusing at times.

Heard loads and loads of good things about them and been to one RR day and the attention to detail seemed fantastic each car monitored very highly on each run, I doubt that any car has went bang on the rollers was any fault of theirs as everyone here has said its more likely been a very poor state of repair before it was on the RR. And again as other people have said AVA give power figures where it counts ATW

My experiance with my brother car was that I took it there, they stuck it on the rollers, heard a noise and told me that they wouldnt run it on the rollers any more because the big ends were gone. Right enough they were. This was NOTHING to do with them, as my brother had reassembled the big ends without lubing them up correctly.

Had the engine went bang on the rollers it would not have been their fault.

I think that people should be aware of how demanding the rollers are on a car, and should be 100% confident in the mechanical condition of the car before it goes near the rollers. Failing that they should pay the company to check the car over, fully, before putting in on for a power run.

When we returned they sorted out our breather problem, did a power run, noticed that there was some detonation at 12psi, put it down to 11 for us, checked it all over and gave us a clean bill of health.

Top guys it seemed to me. They also took me around the workshop and showed me their various projects and were happy to chat about what to do next. We'll be returning to them.

Only one small annoyance is that they dont give out a torque figure, but this point has been covered on Euans topic.

i see what your saying...ok fair enough not many cars have blown on AVA rollers but he never even wanted it on them in the first place

what was the reason for putting it on the rollers in the first place?

I would imagine all tuners have had something let go at some point its the nature of the beasts we drive, but why would any tuner knowingly blowup an engine on the rollers

the only other thing i would add is why would a tuner keep turning an engine over with it making weird noises, i would imagine most experienced mechanics would know when something was seriously wrong from the sound of an engine, wouldn't they???

alan said he wanted to asses what was wrong with the box by doing power runs

i had nursed the car up after it happened to save anything else going.

its done now the guys do know there stuff it just pissed me off alot at the time.the engine a bit but more so because i told them not to run it on the rollers.

id have thought so but they said after the noises got louder it cut out and they tried turning it over and it got worse so they stopped

At the end of the day, there are plenty of happy customers from AVA, but there are obviously unhappy customers too, and that is fact.

Doesnt mean they are incompitant, just the way things are especially with these old 15 year old cars.

Just the way things are, afterall, you cant please everyone.

ive never used them yet but have only heard good things about their quality of workmanship from people that have so i intend to use them in future.the only bad thing ive heard said about them is that they can be a bit pricey sometimes.i cant imagine any tuner would do anything untowards to a customers car to risk blowing it up knowingly but unfortunately these mishaps do happen now and again
