Default Noble....

is there much to be gained from buying the 3.0L version over the 2.5L?...I note nearly a 10k price jump!

..and whats the overall view on these?

Watch out as there are some real lemons about - the build quality is on par with TVR at it's worst .

Get a good one and its one of the best handling cars you can buy, get a lemon and it will spend more time being fixed than on the road . Looked into getting one for Jen (as it is her favourite car), but the horror stories put us off .

There was even a website set up by one disgruntled own listing all the problems he had .

Im really not convinced Mike that something as fundamentally simple as a noble can really be that much of a problem to sort out.

Just like TVR's, you buy one, you spend your weekends for a while sorting out all the problems, then you have an awesome car at the end of it.

I saw that website as well Mike. I think the owner still knocks about on PistonHeads as well.

I love em - want one in a couple of years. I think the most common mod to safeguard the engine was the big wing sump mod.....

Sounds exactly like i said to be honest from reading that, nothing that a couple of well researched mods and a few weekends wouldnt have seen sorted.

Paying 1200 quid for a luggage rack a set of bulbs and a battery is just stupid, IMHO and doesnt reflect the real cost to someone like Phil who isnt afraid to get his hands dirty.

You'll end up breaking it for spares

Is the engine taken from a mondeo?

Its the same basic block and head casting as the mondeo, very different spec though of course.

I think there's an option of the 2, not sure though.

For some balance....

http://www.pistonheads.com/noble/owners.asp

Also, I reckon you could pick almost any car, and find at least one completely unsatisfied owner.......

Especially if its some no nothing johnny who pays through the nose for everythign and doesnt understand enough about the car even to properly explain to the garage what the problem is etc (not saying that specifically in this case, but just in terms of most people who think they have some unrepairable terrible car)

That wasn't the review I meant . The one I was talking about was where he had the link to the dealer that was eventually forced to take the car back , where he basically said do NOT buy this car under any circumstances and then proceeded to list everything that went wrong with it . Obviously some were simple items in the big scheme of things, but NOT what you expect after spunking Ł45k on car .

Couldn't find the link - might be worth an ask on Pistonheads....

Phil - the way I understand it, you don't want to be looking at one for less than 28-30k......

Also, the Lotus juiced on a 2.5 Noble in the wet at Snetterton . And if you think that this stands for Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious, you wait until you get a Noble .
