Default RS 200 replica

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/122799.htm

Note, am NOT selling this car & nor do I know the person who is.

He says:-

Ford RS 200 Professionally built replica built on a custom built Kara 430 spaceframe. There is a full glossy colour spiral bound portfolio documenting every stage of the professional build process colour pictures in a step by step process. It also has a large folder with many bills and reciepts and has another history book in colour spiral bound showing all the RS200 variants and many RS gatherings and road tests. It has adverts showing RS200 prices over the years along with many other newspaper and magazine articles all covering the history of the ledgendary RS200.
The vehicle above was originally built with a pinto engine which remained in the car until 2 years ago where a special Cosworth Turbo unit was sourced in order to give the car the performance that it was crying out for. This car is powered by a freshly built 2.0 Ford Cosworth unit mated to a 5 speed Renault 30 transaxle box. It has had a full rebore, low compression forged pistons, cosmitec steel head gasket, new guides, valves and bearings. The engine has been built to run 18+psi of boost. There is a Hybrid Stage 3 360 degree roller bearing turbo mated to a hard pipe kit and a roof mounted alloy intercooler. The engine is equipped with grey injectors, chipped ECU and an alloy dump valve and RAM AIR Foam induction filter. The hand built exhaust bearly spans 3 foot and therefore is loud and fearsome, it shoots 4 foot flames on the over run and remains ignited through the gears. The rear double shocked coil over suspension is fully adjustable with all camber and castor settings front to back. The rear canopy tilts backwards for access just like the real rally car. Moving inside the car is equipped with cosworth dash and recaro seats, remote central locking linked to an alarm, electric windows and mirrors, all the items are Ford sourced keeping the look fully authentic. The original registration is going back on the car giving it a more authentic 1986 C reg reading C106 GRH, the current logbook is showing 6 former keepers and has the vehicle listed as a Sierra Emax GL, both chassis number and engine number are present. The car has been used througout it's life having only covered 9,500 miles this is documented and proved by all the previous MOT's. The car is not concourse inside or out yet is a very clean example and it's outer bodywork can only be described as excellent; this hopefully is reflected in the photographs taken the other day. This car is currently MOT'd and wants nothing, it is a great toy and a fantastic looking blast from the past. It will not disappoint in looks and performance as this car bearly weighs 1000 kilos..Do the maths……….It's FAST !

I say:-

Er, yes, dunno, maybe, not sure, need to think about it.

What do you say?

I might be tempted if the gearbox looked like it would last more than 5 mins & the car was 4wd, ie, mechnically a replica too.

was offered this last year for £10,000

kara`s are longer than a real rs200,200mm ish
don`t sound like much but very easy to spot a kara/mercury over an banham or spd replica

gearbox will hold about 380 max

Just read your thread Banham. Am now a wiser man, thanks.

Also, wish I had the talent/time/cash for doing the same 'cos I'll never afford a real 1 & your project is just so right.

Dave

Out of curiosity is yours front engined, or mid? I always fancied doing one of these - when the body next rots on mine again - you never know!

Nice.... Sounds like it has been quite a project!

Would be interested to know how it performs.

Havent read whole thread - what is the weight of the whole car?

Can I ask what you thought of it ?? Was there anything in particular you didn't like about it ?? The person selling it says hes had it a couple of years so I wonder why the sudden hike in the selling price ?? If he was happy to take 10K for it then why now 17K ??

Was it of a good build guality ??

Regards,

Simon

selling a lookalike car with adverts from the real thing sounds a
bit desperate to me, i have seen kara's and a right cocky thing
based on a maestro and the kara looked great.
saw a metallic grey one on a g reg with a cossie yb in and it looked
nice, i have seen many real rs200's and love the look of them and the
capability, however to dissapoint i sold a lhd cosworth to a guy
who was the top guy at ford for budget renta car,and he had one
a lhd c plate, that was his fords company car and he reckoned it broke down more than it was on the road, was nothing but trouble
