Default Quick Question RE Tax'ing online

If you tax your vehicle online, is it taxed immediatly or do i have to wait for the tax disc to turn up ?? Its currently on a sorn so need to know wheather i'm ok to drive once its taxed online.

i think u have to display it.....like if its in the house and forgot to put it in the window...u can still get done....read online and see

As Pete said, it is taxed but failure to display is an offence in itself.

Driving it wouldn't worry me but I'd not leave it parked anywhere where it's likely to get noticed.

It should be ok, they give you a reference number, just display that in the window

as above. i drove straight away but kept a print of the online receipt in the car in the hope that if i was stopped by plod i could sweet talk my way out of any penalty for not displaying. they can call it up immediately on their computer these days and see that the vehicle is taxed, so why should they be bothered? they should have better things to do
