what exactly is an associate member?

this is the only reason i didnt apply to be treasurer for our regional group as i think the full RSOC offers nothing at the best of times, so i begrudged spending the £30 just to be on the commitee

Thats what i always thought, and as others have stated if you are a local group member you can still be on the comittee.

I don't think many people bother renewing there full RSOC membership these days..... Just stay Local group members.

The mag is a very good read mate. You also get insurance discount..altho some people say that they don't give competitive quotes sometimes. You can also attend National Day as part of the club..which you cannot do without unless you get on a visiting club stand.
However I do agree that if your dad/ mum/ g'friend is already a member then there's not much point in paying twice.

Then you should not be on the club stand at national day cause you have to be a club member.

How can u pay to be a local group member when your not a member of the club.

I thought this was against the club rules.

To be an official member of a local group i was under the impression you have to be a member.

How can you be a member of a local group which is part of the RSOC and not be a member of the club....

its 30 quid you tight bastards.....

There must be loads of people like that Dongy as I know people in my local group who are not in the main RSOC. Some may see it as a taster to see if they are going to like it as a whole before joining.

I agree that you shouldn't be at ND if you are only a local member tho.

Thats correct Steven, but there is no point in paying £30 a year when you get nothing for it. If ND was at Donno again i pay have payed up but defo wont be going to Rockingham so it's pointless IMO.

And maybe others dont want to pay as they MIGHT not be in the RS scene for much longer LOL

I am on the committee of the west of Scotland RSOC,I am also a fully paid up member,i have to say that £35 is a cheap membership fee considering all that goes on throughout the year.I am sure that alot of u guys on here would attend a few shows and at the end of the day the members are the heart and soul of the rsoc without members and fees there would be no rsoc no shows and therefore no club!So get in to ur wallet and pay ur fee im sure it wont break the bank

Just checked on the website and it is £35 for one year or £80 for 3 years.

I shan't be renewing when my membership runs out. I get far more from MLR membership which is light years ahead of what the RSOC offers for the same price.

erm since when have you been able to get into a show for free because you pay the rsoc membership ?

the money for the show comes out of the local groups piggy bank !

and dingy its not about being tight, whats the point in wasting £30 or 35 a year for absolutely fook all ? just doesnt make sense does it ?

Matt,

I am of the opinion that the club membership is expensive for the amount you get back. But without the membership there is NO club.

So no show's, no track days, no national day etc....

So as you like croft so much you should join to get that really....

I just pay my 30 quid and have done, i don't get any benefits from the club insurance or discounted schemes but it means i can run one of the best shows of the year again there is no benefit to me personally LOL

So it really depends what you want from the club. IF your not happy then say you piece at the agm and try to change things

pmsl I knew what i meant

I can see where your coming from by not wanting to renew etc as you feel you get no benifits of renewing membership, and like you said a family member gets Rallye News.

But like Dingy says he renews his membership to run a club which he obviously enjoys and to organise Croft. ( This agreeing with you aint going to happen again Dingy, hope you ok from you fainting PMSL )

And likewise for me at Surrey Group, i renew my membership so that i can still enjoy what i do within Surrey Group, Organising all the club stands for shows etc etc

If you know what i mean? pmsl i have probs explained myself really badly, but i'm at work and trying to reply in a rush
