Default another Greenlight question!

Hi Tony

Firstly thank you for my quote thats great

My question though is with regards agreed valuation policies, I am hearing horror stories about how when a payout was required the agreed valuation policy becomes something else etc etc. not with yourselves my I add!

So what is the score then, with my limited knowledge if I am asking an insurance company for a £20,000 agreed valuation policy then in the event of the unthinkable happening and I need to make a claim due to some form of total loss I would expect a cheque for £20,000 to be coming my way, is this correct or are there hidden disclaimers to do with if I have the accident on a tuesday in April then the policy reverts to Glasses Guide LOL???

Thanks in advance

Andy

yes all we need now is an answer

in the documents received from Boncaster it states the following:-

Endorsement No. 51 Agreed Value
If you vehicle is damaged beyond economical repair or stolen and not recovered, we will pay you the amount shown in the schedule.

now call me stupid but as the amount shwn in the schedule states £20,000 surely thats what I would get????

so my question is how the hell did Mike Rainbird for one not get his full dues, or are we now using a different RSOC company etc. so not comparing apples with apples.

Hi Andy,

Once the supporting evidence has been provided and the value deemed acceptable, the Underwriter places an endorsement (clause) upon the policy which advises that in the event of your vehicle being a total loss/write off you will be paid the value stated in the schedule (ie. £20k).

Thus if your vehicle were to be written off through either damage or not recovered through theft you would know up front exactly what would be paid to you.

The schedule lists the clauses that apply to your policy and is read in conjunction with your policy booklet (all of which form part of the contract).

Kind regards

Tony

Andy, you are probably best off PM'ing Mike as regards his issue.

I would normally, but I think this is quite an interesting point for clarification for a lot of people as you do seem to hear all sorts of stories.

Mike's story was one that was raised on another post I don't know the ins and outs of it myself

anyway Tony's explanation seems to be quite clear to me

many thanks

Andy,

If that's what it states in the schedule, thats what he (ie. Mike) or you should be paid.

Sounds like Mike may not have had this extension upon his policy, as if it was there & he involved the ombudsman they would have to pay the full schedule value.

Boncaster are the direct arm of Equity (Insurer) and run the RSOC scheme.

The Underwriter/Insurer behind the Boncaster scheme would be Equity, Greenlight's historic ford placement is with KGM, Chaucer, Zurich, Sabre, AXA and Highway.

If one of our underwriters applies this endorsement I guarantee that providing there has been no contravention of policy terms (ie. fraud or non-disclosure) they will pay.

Without being party to what Boncaster do/have done it's difficult to 2nd guess.

Kind regards

Tony

I was told more or less the opposite to this.

I had to give up my company car due to going part time and starting at uni but wanted to keep my cossie and insure my 306 xsi in place of my company car- as a social, domestic and pleasure car.

I was told they could do no better than offering me a starter discount based on NO NCB because my NCB was on the Saph.

The fact Greenlight couldn't really help me on this was a major factor in why I sold my cossie.

I must say though - other than this, which in all fairness they dont really have to do anyway.. Greenlight have exceeded my expectations in every other aspect.

Hi Jake,

Sorry we couldnt help, but i'm glad we exceeded your expectations.

In answer to Slowpoke/your situations, it will often differ from Underwriter to Underwriter.

The main criteria is that the NCB has to be used upon the main/performance vehicle & (here's the catch) you have to be claim/conviction free to qualify for the 2nd car introductory discount.

As an Insurance provider, Greenlight purely source cover for performance/modified & kit built vehicles and wouldnt look to deal with an everyday non-performance vehicle on an isolated basis (ie. if we didnt cover the cossie we wouldnt be able to offer the mirror ncb).

To go back to slowpoke's question, your underwriter does offer the ncb mirror & we can do this providing you meet the other criteria, which from memory I think you do.. Also, have you moved yet?? as this will also help.

Back to jake: if you need any cover/help in the future Jake, im happy to get involved as it's a shame to lose someone who felt we gave good service & exceeded expectations.

Kind regards

Tony

tony, very good to see you remembered i was moving lol

going to look at somewhere this sunday but we have or should i say she has already decided we are having it lol

as soon as its all confirmed etc i will be looking for a cheap £500 fiesta diesel and when it comes to renew time the saph will be going on limited mileage as i will be commuting 55 miles round trip per day

i just hope you can offer this mirror thing so the fiesta wont cost much to insure otherwise it will kill my budget as it is alreay pr will be very tight lol

crikey gets more interesting then....

I have my Audi A6 arriving tomorrow and have swapped the Elephant insurance for my Cossie to the Audi, this insurance expires in March. Obviously I have hit the same problem with having 2 cars, 3 if you count the wifes!!!

Tony, last question I promise, here's the setup...

1. Escort Cossie
2. Audi A6 2.0 TDi SE
3. Renault Clio Sport 197

Wife has 10 years no claims, I have 6 years no claims is there some kinda deal you can do to get all cars on one policy of some description so that we can both drive all 3 cars???

I doubt you will loose me Tony, I'd rather have GOOD service from a company you can talk to and who know what they're on with, than speak to some chimps in a call centre who just read off a screen but charge you £100 quid less.

Just a shame I couldn't do what I wanted to when I wanted to do it.. but I didn't honestly expect you to do anything- it was a bit of a big ask in my opinion.

I'm just toying with insuring my 2nd car now and will give you a PM???- but as my NCB is now on the 306 I doubt I'll get a decent quote as its a modified car. So I might not insure it and tow it everywhere.

Morning Andy,

You've got a really good combination of cars there.

With regard to covering the 3 vehicles, we wouldnt be able to put them under the same policy but we could group the policies with the same underwriter - this would effectively mean they operate separately and accrue individual NCB, rather than one claim effecting all under a multi-vehicle policy.

We'd need to put your NCB onto the Cossie and would use your wife's NCB on the Clio 197, then providing all checks out with the scheme criteria we would look to source a "mirrored" second vehicle discount for the Audi.

You could both be named upon all 3 cars.

Kind regards

Tony

just to throw in some more input on the greenlight situation, i used them on the sierra and was 110% happy, they wer a pleasure to deal with rather than "the enemy"

unfortunately they cannot cover my M3, so i've had to use flux. after multiple fuck ups and piss poor customer service i once again see insurers as "the enemy"

tony, PLEEEEASE source an underwriter who'll do E36 M3s i dont care if it costs double what im paying flux

Hi Franco,

Thanks for highlighting again, I had missed your original note

We don't have an Underwriter that offers build up/off road cover and the only solution that we could offer would be a Ltd mileage road policy, which may be pricey compared.

If the situation changes i'll let you know.

Kind regards

Tony..

my renewal is very close and am interested to see if you can help me.

i phoned last year and was told that greenlight dont insure modded cossies.

i have an agreed valve policy with HIC at the moment.

So, my question is would you insure a heavily modded saphire and would an agreed value be a problem.

My renewal with HIC is £850 quid.

Any chance of beating that?

cheers

Hi Euan,

We can certainly help.

Greenlight DO cover modified cossies, always have done, so there must have been something in the detail that we couldnt do.

1. We DO require actual NCB to be used

2. We DO offer an agreed value option (subject to evidence)

3. Like-for-like mods replacement is always included

4. Track cover is a per event option under some annual policies

5. We DO NOT shoehorn modified cars only classic car policies

6. We DO NOT offer quotes for drivers with IN, UT, AC convictions

7. We do not offer quotes for drivers with poor claims history

8. We DO NOT cover certain postcode areas

With regard to the £850 HIC renewal, it's impossible to know what we'll be without your full details.

So, would you please be so kind as to pop your details onto www.greenlightinsurance.com/passion_ford.php and we'll see what we can do.

Kind regards

Tony

Sorry Dojj..

The car would certainly qualify, it may just be a postcode that's outside of the acceptance criteria of our Underwriters schemes .
