Cooling system Prob (Strange but True)!!
How come my cooling system does not kick in when I do not go on boost?? I’ll explain more now for you all, in the morning, I leave the car running for 5 mins, then I drive slow under 3.5k revs, however, the cooling system does not kick in and it begins to over heat, this is a nightmare if you are stuck in traffic when you first set off!!
However, as soon as I hit boost, the fans kick in and it cools down, but why does it not kick in if im not on boost??
I would love to know your opinions

if it has a swirl pot, remove header tank top and see if water is been pumped around. mines like a hose pipe normally(lot of force) when you see where the swirl pot pipe goes into the water header tank.

so you think it is the swirl pot not circulating the water properly?? Should this happen seeing how much you pay for them!!

the standar system design is more than up for the job of cooling the engine
i'd take it off, flush the system fit a new thermostat and 50/50 antifreeze and see if hat does the job
stick the swirl pot on ebay....you dont need it

well mine is a stage 3 and copes just fine
if anything its a little too effective as it takes ages to warm up (as this affects the fuel economy as its closed loop), but this may be cos it sgot too much antifreeze in it
you'll fine the majority of people here will tell you they do very little

this is easy to do on a 4x4 as there is a little screw in the top of the thermostat housing
see below:
dunno how you bleed a 2wd though?
i was quite suprised the system doesn have a self bleed that returns to above the water level, like on my old S2
