PREPARING FOR CONCOURS
how do i go about it? whats involved? is there any decent literature on it?
any tips hints? not planning on doin it with the frst but with an escos this summer?
is it something i will have to dedicate much time to? or can you do it as a hobby and not 'fully commited' to doing it full time..??
will the car need FSH and all MOT to verify mileage?
any adice/suggestions would be helpful
thanks
carl

You don't need MOT's and FSH to enter concourse as far as I know mate.
For your first time your better off entering the Novice class and seeing how you find it
I'm also sure that for Novice you don't need to have the underside and arches done! Just clean EVERYWHERE and you'll do fine!
Mod's are ok to so long as you enter the right class, concourse logbooks can be had on the RSOC iirc

Precisely Gus, at least some people on this site think outside the box and of others opinions!
Charlie, lots and LOTS of concourse cars are used my friend! I drove my Series 1 over 300 miles to Ford Fair and back!

Be prepared to loose all your friends...
Be prepared to become more bitchy than a gaggle of gay men...
Be prepared to become very skint...
And for what ? ? ?
FOOK ALL.... thats what.
If you want a tin cup that bad, nip down the trophy shop and buy one... engrave 'Best In Show' on it and stick it on the mantle piece.. who would know

1 was a S1 and 1 was a S2
Both did 1 or 2 shows- realised how ridiculous it was and sold their CONCOURSE cars immediatly to people who drove them.

mate, you are only alive for a very very short time, do you really want to spent your days cleaning mud out of fucking tyre treads with a cotton bud, and then using a toothbrush to clean the gaps in between your dashboard?
I think the funniest thing I have seen ever was at National day last year. the sad fuckers were polishing thier cars in the rain ffs , the look of panic on thier faces as those horrid drips of precipitation hit thier cars, you would have thought it was fucking pain stripper or somthing , didn't they see the perfectly good track next to the stands?
Concourse is nice in a way, but really whats the point? There are far cheaper ways to realize you have OCD

well done concours last year and it is hard work and can get out off hand if you let it, i was lucky as my car was allready mint lol and didnt need to much to get it to the next level, but trying to keep it there is hard work as driving to and from the shows ( mainly in rain last year ) really gets them dirty. Glad i did it but dont think i will be doing it again or not for a few years anyway, you will meet some nice people and some strange people in the concours area and some take it far to much, but as long as you dont go to far so that you carnt drive the car anymore all is fine. My escort will be back on the group stands again next year and i know i will miss all the attenshion off the concours arena but i wont miss all the cleaning + i will be able to have a few more beers and a lay in the morning off the show.
cheers dunc

like i said i no NOTHING about it REDKOP just at the shows the cars look immaculate
its just something to think about, im a car user so the car will be used and used hard and will be aiming for high horsepower, well relatively
so can i combine a bit of CONCOURS and 1/4m and trackdaying????
or is best to just choose one and stick to it? cuz i know which fooker that would be....

I love doing it though and at the end of the day you are adding to the cars value by keeping it really, really clean-this year will be my first go and I may hate it but I am giving it a go as it's something a bit different

Drive it...... and if that bores you, then get it on track, and realise how much fun cars can be.
The End.
