does anyone know if an x reg vauxhall agila 1.2 has a cambelt or is chain driven as i think my boss is being told a load of crap by her mechanic

he,s also told her she could of bent the head gasket which even i know isnt possible

So he told her it was the cam belt that had gone?

The chains CAN snap you know! It happened a few times on the latest shape vectra when it first came out....

Obviously a belt or chain snapping could cause enough damage to warp a head....

but is this what the mechanic told her, or what her translation is of what he said to her?


My bird is normally like 'that round thingy has fell off that bit of plastic that holds that other bit of my car to this bit here' lol

she has taken her car away from the garage now as her friends car that was in the garage to have a head gasket done was told the head was cracked so they supposedly put a new head on when she started it up it sounded like a diesel when its a 1.0l petrol he told her it had to run in for 500 miles then taken back and checked but she picked it up monday and yesterday the head gasket failed in a big way
