Right, Hopefully taking the missus to New York for her 25th birthday present for 4 nights...
Does anyone know on how to get a visa for the visit?

have a read here,you may be ok and be eligible for the VISA waiver program,if you have ANY convictions for anything though,then you'll probably have to apply

From what I'm lead to believe you need a visa if you have any criminal convictions As I'm going to Las Vegas in May and presently running around like a headless chicken trying to sort all this visa shit out before I go

Polly - Yes both hold UK passports, had a read the link above and it looks as if we don't need one and will be alright. I've got a new passport with the chip thing on the back page which apparently allows u quite a few places without a Visa! Hers was issued in 2003 and has the scan bar thing which qualifys her aswell.
Foster - Going on the 16th March matey Well looking forwards to it
She knows nothing!
Going to be a sight when we queue up at Gatwick in the British airways 'New York JFK' queue

The first thing you need to do is get a subject access request. takes up to 40days to come through. If when you receive this it is clear, then no need to go to embassy. If it still has entries recorded against your name, then you do need to apply for a visa.

Right;
the below is from the American vis website
For information - The United Kingdom is on the waiver list.
http://<a href="http://www.visaburea...-visa.aspx</a>
It is my opinion that this means that you no longer need a VISA - though you will need to check an dconfirm...

the below is from the American vis website
If you wish to travel to America as a tourist you will not be required to obtain an American Tourist Visa if you plan to travel for less than 3 months and are a citizen of a country with a visa waiver agreement with America.
If you wish to travel in America for longer than 3 months, or intend to conduct business activities in America, you will be required to apply for a Tourist or Business Visitor (B1 or B2) Visa.
The Visa Waiver Pilot Program allows foreign nationals from certain countries to travel in America for a period of 90 days for business or pleasure without having to obtain a visa. In cases where the foreign national does not hold a passport which meets new immigration requirements (i.e. contains a digital photo and machine readable format), they will need to apply for a B Visa.
To travel to America under this program, you must:
Be travelling to America for a period of 90 days or less;
Have a passport valid for 6 months beyond your intended visit;
Be a citizen of a country which holds a visa waiver agreement with America;
Provide evidence you intend to depart the country, such as a return ticket; and
Be of good character.
All Visa Waiver Program (“VWP”) travelers, regardless of age or type of passport used, must present machine-readable passports; previous one-time exemptions for first-time VWP travelers without MRPs ended June 26, 2005. In addition, depending on when VWP travelers’ passports were issued, other passport requirements will apply:
Machine-readable passports issued before 10/26/05 – no further requirements
Machine-readable passports issued between 10/26/05 and 10/25/06 – requires digital photograph printed on the data page or integrated chip with information from the data page
Machine-readable passports issued on or after 10/26/06 – requires integrated chip with information from the data page (e-passport)

When I went last year they said all I need is the new style passport (machine readable) and when on the plane, they give you a green car that you fill out and present to immigration. He checks it, asks you a bunch of questions (that you already filled out on the card ) then stammps it and lets you through (fingers crossed lol)

Smit, I really don't think a driving violation that happend 9 years ago is really going to matter? Unless maybe it was drunk driving and you killed someone.
I wouldn't worry about it and go, I've gone to the UK when my license was suppended and returned no problems LOL.
IMO, if it's not a "serious" crime than I don't think you'll have a problem.
Just don't quote me on that...

^^^ Was a bit miffed I didn't get picked up from the airport in either the Cos or the Merkur
But hey, I got picked up in an Audi Actually, getting picked up in anything was a bonus No idea what American buses are like, but if anything like the UK, I'd have spent another 3hrs at the airport
Still haven't forgotten the feeling I had when I met up with oyu guys at the airport.... I just felt incredibly disorientated and unsure what the fook was going on - then I saw some craxy short ass mofo waving a picture of Animal from the muppets, with my name on it at me from behind a window
