Default Head unit wiring help..

Hello people, so im just about to put a new head unit to replace the ford effort in my '88 3i.. thing is ive not changed one for a few years and totally forgot what goes where. In the car i have 1 brown wire, 1 yellow wire, 1 red wire and 1 red and white wire. On my head unit i have 1 yellow, 1 red and 1 black. Can any tell me what goes where before i blow myself up. Ta much..

Well brown goes to black. Yellow to yellow. and red to red. But if it looses memory everytime u turn it off then swap the yellow and red wires around.

so do i connect the 2 reds in the car to the 1 red on the head unit???

No just the solid red iirc. I cant remember wot the red and white one is. I will hav look...

on the car loom you use

thick brown
thick red
yellow

the others are discarded as you dont need them bar the speaker wires

on the head unit

black goes to brown
red to yellow
yellow to red

if you connect re/red and yellow/yellow

then each time you turn off teh stereo it loses the memory for all your settings including radio
