re: handling, never noticed a mega difference going to 17's, but there maybe some chassis differences from the Corsa to Nova which may aid me? I dunno!

Engine is dead standard mate, no matter what you hear, rebuilt yes but that didn't last long

He is just using the schrader (sp) valve on the fuel rail for his take off. It doesn't affect anything really although his YB pump is probably working to the max.

Future plans are probably steel rods, new turbo, manifold, management.

the hard work now begins for him tbh, lots of money just to gain those few 10ths. Not sure if I could be arsed myself but someone has to do it lol

I ran 16's on my white one and found it ok, 15's were fitted for 1/4 mile until I fitted the 305 brakes.

I just found the lower profile tire you went for the worse the ride became thus not making me feel as comfortable driving flat out.

I know he hasn't done better than a 2sec flat 60ft yet.

Oh and watch the vid lol 121mph pass I think, he has done a 124mph pass before though

TBH I would not bother lobbing loads of money for a few 10th's.

Its like a mad competition round here. We all had our cars running in 2005. Chris S (comes on here) managed a 12.3. The Nova Van got a 12.5, I was low 13's.

Since then:

Chris is building a nice GT30 low comp LET.

Adz with the van, well hes just not wired up right. Built a Mk3 Astra with I think a T3 on it (could be a T34), reckon the van will be insane when done. He doesn't like loosing LOL

Danny has joined the mad club, done a Tigra with a T70 on it (yes thats right ), infact I have a pic of it next to a GT28 . |God knows how it will drive.



The Usher (and his dad) have an idea that is well out of the box. His dad showed me a load of technical data, and if he builds what he is thinking, everybody else need not bother

Me, well I've done nothing. But it'd be ace if I did the same spec as your mate, did a low 12, then took the NOS off and basked in my glory

Sounds like some interesting builds coming along !

Really though ALL these people should pay Danny B a visit as he would make the car faster on the 1/4 for a damn site less than some of the expensive tuning parts, just very few seem to appreciate that as they think that more power is the only way to quicker times

Would of had mine done but I had to accept it was a nova, I would always be wanting to upgrade this and that and at the end of the day I'd never be happy.

i bet if i drop the clutch in 3rd 2nd gear on the gte it will hit the limeter in a couple of seconds does that count for a 0-60 ???? wheels would be doing that lmao

I get that a fast 0 - 60 means it's a fast car. But I think your better at looking what gets from 0 - 100 fastest that shows a real quick car.

I'm not personally into the whole fast in a straight line either. It's just boring. Which is what makes Norris's Evo and Fensports Celica etc amaze me!

well mine did a 1/4 in 14.2 at 105 so guessing 14 dead to 100?
that was without the gas......
have got some yoko ao48's for free to try this year and have also gone up from phase 3 to 3.5.my problem is no traction till third gear i dont know how you do it tim.
think i will have to ask brom nicely for some bottom arms.

I managed a 5.38 without the LSD, then the 4.79 with. Think its luck mate!

I want to invest in some trick bits for mine after I've done the engine.

You notice a difference between phase 3 and 3.5?

my 12.6 was without a diff and that was at 121mph so really looking fwd to getting a timed 0-60 when the car is back in one piece

Were all from South Yorks all over mate. You are aware we all have at least 300bhp off gas, Adz probably more like 400?

I know hes run a 12 without the gas.

I've a video of him doing a 12.7 at Pod yonks ago. Though the car has no engine at the moment.

From AX-22 GPS logs, circa 3.18secs.

Thats in 3rd gear though. If I was to hang onto 2nd it should be high 2's

Im losing about 0.2-0.3secs of acceleration time during the shift according to the log. It flatlines before accelerating towards 60 again.

That was on drag radials at Santa Pod.

Best was 1.73 late on the Saturday night at the night drags in October....when I also missed 4th gear

I know where that run was going

Next best was 1.758, which was on my best time of 10.04, that was first thing Sunday morning, same event.

I managed 1 or 2 more 1.7x's I think, all on the MT DR's

I did a few 1.8x with the previous Nitto 555R's

Obviously Ive done a mix of slower 60fts too, but those would be the best.

When I get a stronger trans and prop, I'll try launching harder

I didnt want to take any silly risks and end up stranded, as my current prop isnt quite how I'd like it, nor is the output shaft of the box, which is a known weak link.
I dont mind stripping gears, 4th will always get me home if I had to. Break the other 2, and its a nightmare to try and get home.

Ive heard dedicated racers say, that every 0.1s off your 60ft, can be worth 0.2secs of your ET.

I dont personally think its as much as that, but its probably not far off.

Not sure if that can take into account, if you are still spinning or lose traction after the 60ft again, and end up spinning at 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 ft etc

I have done times that would nearly back that theory, but then Ive done times that would show it isnt the case...

The 60ft is of ultra importance. But then, the ret of the run also matters too...
It may be valid for an almost perfect run everywhere else, which in a manual car, is much harder to acheive.
For an auto, I'd think its almost idiot proof.

Cheers bud... it would appear its in the hands of the gods for my 10 sec run.... my combination of good 60ft's and my get every gear runs would mean it'll be damned close if i do them all together ha ha.

As an example, looking thru slips from Retro in July on Nittos and SP in Oct on the MT DR's

All runs at Santa Pod, diff dates for both tyres though, all 2006.

Nitto, 1.827s 60ft, 4.877 330ft, 7.236 1/8th ( 10.76 run ) lost traction after 60ft
Nitto, 1.940s 60ft, 4.893 330ft, 7.145 1/8th (10.615 run )

Oct 14/15 Santa Pod.

MTDR 1.867s 60ft, 4.686 330ft, 6.884 1/8th ( 10.293 run )
MTDR 1.763s 60ft, 4.523 330ft, 6.701 1/8th ( 10.070 run )
MTDR 1.802s 60ft, 4.620 330ft, 6.827 1/8th ( 10.225 run )
MTDR 1.758s 60ft, 4.511 330ft, 6.689 1/8th ( 10.04 run )
MTDR 1.730s 60ft, 4.453 330ft, 6.637 1/8th ( 10.256 missed 4th gear run )

Car isnt quite same spec for both venues, but not a huge amount of difference.

Times are better, on the most part due to the better gearing of the taller MTDR's and better traction.

Dan- spoke to my mate with the 11 sec nova tonight, he will dig out a time slip but he said he is just over 100mph on the 1/8 in 8 secs

Mental really as my mates Vette crosses the 1/8th @100mph... although in 6 secs lol

His ET's are never anymore than 130 max

Think he is running mid 6's on the 1/8th 10.3 on the 1/4

And its more of a brick than yours

weight wise anyway !
