Default FAO Windscreen Peeps.......

Can I get a brand new heated windscreen for my 1989 XR2i or is it a case of going down the scrap yard and hoping for the best?

If the 2i has fully comp insurance (99% of fully comp policies have glass cover) then the cheapest way to do it is claim via insurance for it - your excess will probably be £50, £60, or £75 (in some cases it's £100, but thats not very common)

If you AREN'T fully comp, then going to a big name glass replacement company like RAC Auto Windscreens or Autoglass isn't going to be cheap.

Your best bet is to buy one yourself, from a supplier (and Ford won't be cheap either) and get a windscreen fitter to fit it for cash (if it was me, I'd only charge you about £25 to fit it) or if your confident, fit it yourself (2i's are "string-in" screens - more info on this available if you want.need it )

Ring this place up, and they should give you a good price;

Master Auto Glass (not the same Autoglass I work for, they are a supply only comany and NOT affiliated with Autoglass Ltd in any way) - 020 8531 9219

Thanx for your help guys. My heated screen isn't working and it's kind of misted up along the bottom.

When i need to replace it I'd rather buy one brand new as it's 99% guarenteed (sp) to work.

Will it need to be 'damaged' to be able to claim?

defo not worth buying one outright as it will end up costing you the value of your car

going thru the insurance is your cheapest option, unless you can find someone that can supply and fit it for less than your excess.
