Im on about all the rotten s1 that have been restord do you honestly think theyve all kept there original shell thats what i was saying many have changed shells and kept the original history from there rotten s1
So in theory theyre ringers too over half of all s1 will have the vin number in the floor rotten out and a new section welded in so apart from the vin plate thats the only other id
And know ones the wiser

Read this page for info on re-shells and how cars keep their original number plates and how you go about registering it legally via DVLA:

If YOU reshell your car, you may still have the original shell, but you cannot legally transfer it's numbers across. That's a ringer.

Read the info Steve:
You can keep the reg if you do this. Chances are nowaday that very few exist if any (I only know of Ditch who had a brand new unused shell) and therefore chances are this car was put into a non-RS shell or a stolen S1.
In order to retain the original registration mark cars must use:
The original unmodified chassis or unaltered bodyshell (i.e. body and chassis as one unit - monocoque); or a new chassis or monocoque bodyshell of the same specification as the original supported by evidence from the dealer or manufacturer (e.g. receipt).
And two other major components from the original vehicle – ie suspension (front & back); steering assembly; axles (both); transmission or engine.

Not surprised they didn't turn up: you read their feedback? Havesome negative. I'd have cancelled their bid anyway I think.
First thoughts were it was an RS enthusiast who didn't want someone getting ripped off...but having read the feedback don't think so anymore.
