Default 4x4 engine into 2wd and 2wd into 4x4 saph, what to know?????

as above, im helping 2 mates swap engines.
1 has a 4x4 saph on a j plate
the other is a 3dr on a d reg.

can we just take both engines out, swap exhaust manifolds, sumps, inlet plenum covers(with fuel rails and regulators) and mounts
and bolt them in the other car.
and i was going to keep the engines, looms and ecus together still.
is this ok?

or does the 4x4 loom and ecu need to stay in the 4x4 car?

and other than the sumps inlet and exhaust is there any thing else i need to swap? or any other parts i will need when doing the swap?

just thought water pumps are different to, do these need to be swapped?
i guess it would be easier
cheers

stu you need to swap the sumps overand i think the oil pick ups are diff lengh to but everything else is a swap over and yes leave the engine looms can stay in the same cars 4x4 stays put ect , the thernostat housing is different just use the matching pipe work and just change the exhaust manifold

cheers jay,
forgot about the stats.

does the 4x4 loom need to stay in the 4x4 car then?
what about the ecus?

i want to put the 4x4 ecu into the 3dr that will have the 4x4 engine in it.
as it has a better ecu and the correct map for that engine (minus a lamba, but that can be fitted later)

can i swap the looms to so i dont have to mess with the different sensors like the tps

yes the 4x4 loom is slightly diff so better stayin put the l8 ecu on ur 4x4 is better than the other and all u need to do is swap the outer wires on the tps ove and the l8 4x4 ecu will go on the 3door with the 3 door loom

you will need to change teh sump and pick up pipe as they differ

exhast manifold

id leave teh 4wd inlet on as its better than the 2wd

if going to run l8 ecu

you need to swap the 2 outa wires of the tps sensor if using a 2wd engine loom

whcih would be recommended as they plug up tottally different

only problem is if its a green top engine with lamda the 2wd loom doesnt have this in, so you will need to make a sub loom up for the lamda and run it into the ecu i think else it wont run rite

or you can wire in the 4wd complete loom and remove your 2wd

onkly difference really being is where it connects

yours is behind teh dash board and 4wd is behind battery

other than that simple swap

only difference on teh filters is the 4wd has a remote locator

basically undo the nut and pull it off and its the same as 2wd

only like that because if like 2wd the filter would hit the 4wd cradle

im sure the dizzy is the same throught the models bar small turbo escos
