Easilly worth the money.
If you think that is dear there are two rs1600s for sale on the net,one at £68k the other at £80(ex works).I would pay that for a mk1 anyday just to listen to it at 9000rpm in the middle of a forest
This reg(GJN) has been on so many shells its unreal it was even on a mk3 G3.
Martin-Like you say most have been re-shelled as Ford sold the cars to privateers who over the years crashed them etc.The only genuine cars i can think off the top of my head are VLE956X(Vatanens) and SKK625R John Taylors which apparently still has the original petrol in from its last R.A.C rally

not sure how far he went on the spec, but i know he built it up in about five years from buying parts,
so for not much more i would buy a genuine ex works car,
sean them for around 50k still original
i exspect most ex works car have been reshelled, but atleast the mech would be moved over.
thats why it looks cheap.

ooooh bitchy Pete !
Its a valid point though, there must be hardly any original shells around these days, I know of a genuine Works RS1600 shell but no way is that ever going on the road again without either a re shell or some serious restoration.

I know exactly what you mean Pete.
I'd be quite interested to know exactly how many shells (not cars) Boreham actually built ? I dont suppose there is much record of about these days ?

That number plate has serious Race history that can be proved

Its a works car no matter who rebuilt it ,,proven history IS history , and as Pete says , does your texaco have race history ???

all my cars have race history,
how much history do you need,
last raced in the fuju 500 in 1990
i have spoken to eggenberger and am pinning down which texaco car it was when it raced by them,
all the spec tells me its an 87 wtc car what was sold at mount fuji in the pits after the race,
i only know of only four other eggenberger rs500 touring cars anywhere in the world, so much rarer than you may think. lol
my point was the owner of this car has built it from spares he picked up from motoring news, i would be very doutfull the engine is anything like works spec cars.
and i still stand by this is why its cheaper then most ex works cars advertised.
a number plate means nothing,
how much history do you need,

unlike your 500 so i hear wasnt that just a spare car that was never actually raced and you want 50K for it
[/quote]
when you have done as much research as i have on RS500 race cars or owned five ex 500 touring cars then your comments would be worth lisening too,
i dont do jungle drums,![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
and for the record:
GJN126T RS1800 HISTORY AS FROM THE WORKS ESCORT BOOK =
CHASSIE BBATWL92658 7-6-79 1979 RAC (E) WALDEGARD/THORZELIUS FINISHED 9TH
SOLD TO DAVID PIGGY THOMPSON 1980
well thats amasing not quite the POO505R now is it with one rac rally to its name

You cant really compare a race car to a rallycar. There are going to be miles more original race cars than rallycars because all race cars do is go round a bit of tarmac
so will no way get damaged as much as rallycars in forests etc.Rallycars dont have run-off areas to stop they just have trees
.
At the end of the day it is a historic spec escort rs and is easily worth £45k
At least this car has the proper ID even though its not the original shell which is near impossible for the amount of rallys it did with privateers.
Martin-POO505R is not on its original shell now but its a proper GARTRAC shell.

On our last talk about your "TEXACO" 500 , you said you couldnt prove anything as all documents were lost in the flood at eggenburger
![Confused](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
Now your saying you can prove your car
![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
How come the sudden turn around ????

well paul
as i dont evan remember speaking to you,
and if so you would know i have spoken to eggenberger in several ocasions and they have told me it was raced by them as a texaco car, but could not verifie the exact car unless i travelled to swizerland and looked in ther basement,
they will not go and look at the records for me as it was flooded a few years ago and is still not nice to go down there,
i will if all else fails i will take them up on there offer and look myself, but as i am in the uk and dont pass swizerland often but its on my to do list!
and WHF has my texaco car got to do with this post?
all i have said about this escort rs1800 is that its cheap for the reasons i have mentioned,

Remember our talk on my post for my Caliber 3 door that you were quick to call a replica ,,same as you have on this post with this car
![Confused](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
You seem to feel its ok to call other cars replicas or none gen works cars , and yet you cant prove nothing about the Texaco car you own
![Pthbbbb](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile045.gif)
If you cant take it Martin , then dont give it
