I quite fancy getting one, and have spyed someone giving one away with everything needed, but I dont fancy keeping/breeding live bugs in the house anyone know if their is ANY way you can feed them dead insects/bugs or even have them on some sort of vegetarian diet? I know they eat veg aswell as bugs

Lambchop, Yea he's described it as "a bit grumpy" how often do you need to spray them with water? is that just because of lack of humid environment?
Genesis Engineering, It's a Veiled chameleon.
So, you can only really feed them live insects? hmmm

Staying in the middle of nowhere, I am struggling to tie down a reliable bug supply for my chameleon, so I am giving her away. Her name is bod (pictured), she is a veiled chameleon, 6 months old, very healthy, a bit grumpy.
I also include the cage (4 foot high), substrate, heat lamp, UVB lamp, vines, and some other bits and bobs (fake trees, waterfall), and whatever food I have when you pick her up. Also a couple of books and whatever advice you need to get started.
Drop me a PM or put a post up if your interested. The whole lot cost me about 500 quid.

I've almost bought a chameleon a few times now, I'd love one. Only thing stopping me is the space, as in the ad there they need some decent height to a cage.
I would reccomend a male chinese water dragon. They look superb (nice and colourful under chin) and are excellent characters.
Or I did see somewhere that people are now breeding coloured bearded dragons (another great character but a bit dull in regular brown)

They are wicked!! Wanted one for years but the maintence put me off!
Ideally you will need a tall vivarium with plenty of branches...they like to climb
As said if possible you need to spray the tank with water mist three times a day to keep the humidity up (this is what put me off)
Water dragons are cool but have high infant mortality rates and you constantly have to clean the water as they bathe and shit in the same water. Cool though, i had one called Green Rizla he croaked and is still buried in my mams rose bed
Best Lizard for a starter is a Leopard Gecko!
TOP lizard! Proper inquistive little creatures and they walk like a crocodile They are sound because although they can get a bit of a trot on they arnt superfast like some lizards! Mine loves mooching about the house but being down south means i dont have the time for him anymore....my old dear looks after her during the week.
Crickets are little cunts, i hate em but you may find that they will eat mealworms or king mealworms. Buy a proper book and do your research, reptiles are a rewarding hobby but they can get stressed and ultimatley die because of it! HTH
