ive got a gt4 as well and love it
had a couple of s1,s and still love to see them on the road

escort cossies are nice motors dont get me wrong but they are very expensive for what you get imho i have a few friends with them but i love the 3 door sierras would remorgage for one but the stealing/jealousy facter has put me off.the series 1s i had had been broken into on numerous occassions so if i had a cossie i wouldnt be able to sleep at night

but out and out the best ford in my honest opinion is the rs200

saw one at nobles a few months ago and almost wet myself

theres a nice over 600bhp 3 door local to me as well and that is split mint.

and a white saffie with over 500 ponies and a rare 2.4 lump in it.thats mint as well.all the peeps i know with all performance cars havent got baggers as theyre all looked after.cossies evos gt4s scoobies they all gain a respect in my eyes as there all performance motors and loads can be done with them.

and the good thing you cossie drivers have is that RS symbal as its got such a massive following thats why the prices are so high kudos to you for that

and i still dont know where this silly myth of cossies rusting comes from!the NORMAL sierras seem to but ive still yet to see a cossie thats rotten,i know there have been a few,but theyve lived by the sea etc. mine was a 1988 saff and it had a tiny scab on the boot and an even smaller bit on the lip of a rear arch,on the WHOLE car! not bad i think!

i love the escort cossie as i do the rest of the cossie range,and i have respect for the car and the rally pedigree.as i do for lancia,subaru,mitsibishi etc

Hi Guys,

I to am a GT4 owner, always liked the Cosworth, some more than other and have great respect for them as they were one of the first 200hp+ 4wd cars to hit the uk that the general public could afford, opened the doors for cars like mine.

There is no better or worse, its boils down to what you like and what you do.

I did 2000 miles in my car last year because I dont like to use it in the rain, I know people who do 15000+ miles in a GT4 and only complains of the fuel bill.

My mate has had 5 Cosworths in his time, one 3 door, 3 saphire's and an really nice purple (Std Colour) Escort Coswarth (Small Turbo). His 3 door was 500hp+ and was scary but fun and one of the saphires was tweaked and fast with it.

The biggest problem the Cosworth had was:

1. the badge on the grill & boot, people didn't realise that more work went into the body's aswell as the engine

2. all the Cosworth is based on a standard family car so can be replicated by fitting a body kit.

This doesn't mean there crap, you get rust Toyota's also but if you could import a 3 door RS500 from Japan tomorrow, I bet it wouldn't be rusty either.

Cosworth is Cosworth at the end of the day, you either love or you hate them.

I kinda like them.

But its become quite apparent that the people that drive them are slightly defensive of the breed, can only think of one reason why

If owning a Ford Cosworth makes you like the "milkman", then I'll stick to the Toyota family, there more friendly and reasonable.

I dont think anyones actually slating gt4's to be honest guys. Cosworth owners are not neive enough to think there not capable cars. Just like im sure 'most' of gt4 owners understand that cosworths are. Your always gonna get one or two, but really, for a celica owner to come on a ford site and start slating escort cosworths specifically is quite amusing really. How anyone can do that with such a passion is comical.

All wrc_gt4 keeps saying is rust and fair enough there may be a few rusty saffs out there but the majority are more or less rust-free. And to say escos' in general need welding and have rotton floor plans etc is very funny and blantently untrue.

And i cant really see his point. He's obviously winding people up and is either jealous or clueless about cars.

Anyway, its 99% of it is banter as we all know theyll be more gt4 owners that would rather have an escos, than there is escos owners that would rather have a gt4.

Im not saying the escos is the best car in the world by any means, but theres no other car id rather have this side of £20-£25k. And as said before, its not all about performance, its about the whole driving experience and the car as a complete package, taking everything into account.

This has got to be one of the best threads for a while!!!!

Personally, I love any performance car, (I mean proper cars, cos living in swansea you get the chavs in their 1.2 corsas with half of halfords bolted on and an exhaust the size of my head!?) I will stop and stare if I see anything like an Evo, Scooby (bit common though) and a Celica (Even M3 Beemers for that matter), But when I see a Cosworth (3Dr, Saph or EsCos) then Im wrenching my head off my neck to look at it, they to me are just something else, ok so they are Fords and are more likely to rust than other manufacturers, but how many 21yr old toyota corollas do you see on the road these days with no rust? there is one near me, sounds sweet, but is rustier than an alfa!? So to say that jap cars dont rust is total bull!? and When it comes to the build quality of say an Escos, well actually they were put on a special production and built by Karhmann, I dont think I have ever heard of a Terminally rusty EsCos, dont get me wrong Im not Deluded there probably are loads, but there are many people on this Forum alone that use their Cossies everyday and they look after their cars to so they dont have such issues with rust, cos I reckon it comes down to how you treat the car. One final point, WRC_GT4 A standard Cossie is like 8psi boost and if set up properly and not driven like a retard then why cant you run double boost for 30K on standard internals?

You can get the earlier shape for about 2 grand i think, (J and K reg shape). The twin light shape go for between 3500 upto about 8k ish. I much prefer the older shape though to be honest.

I know its a different type of car, but id take the supra tt over the gt4 personally.
