Hi Peeps
I finaly took the Mongoose exhaust off the Cossy and fitted a brand new Magnex exhaust
I can't belive how quite the exhaust is i am quite shocked to be honest
why didn't i buy one yrs ago
probably would have passed track days with out wny agro
fair play to Brom gave us a hand fitting it we had to overcome a few problems fitting it
basically i have a clubmans grp a reinforced beam which has the exhaust mounts on top of the beam where the front of the diff sits the also mounting points for a diff gaurd
this beam doesn't have the side exhaust mounting points so we had to weld the mounting points on to hold the exhaust was abit of a mission working under jacks and axle stands about a foot of the ground
the ramp wasn't free, but we got there in the end
Brom also sorted out my front Bilsteins for the Rs2000 he welded on the anti rollbar holders for the drop links
so thanks for all the help yesterday Brom top man
top man
cheers marco

ill tell you a little story ... on harvys gibbs is dyno he tested all these 3 exhaust mongoose/scropion/magnex and the magnex had the best flow because it was less retrictive and made slightly better bhp figure
if your exhaust sounds loud you think you are going faster but your not
it's like any car that is quite when your doing 90/100 mph on the motorway it's seems that your only doing 60mph because it's so quite if you go in a loud car when doing 90/100mph you know you are doing it
the Scorpion/Mongoose are 3" system all the way through
the magnex isn't it 3" from the turbo ,then it branches into 2 x 2.25" (total 4.5" under car) pipes then back into 3" just passed the diff .

Hi,
i always thought the mongoose was the best for BHP, and scorpion (due to the restrictors in the silencers, 2" baffles) was the worse. and magnex was the best alround.
but 2x 2.25 (54mm inside diameter) tubes will flow the same a 3.1" tube ( 76mm inside diameter)
2.25, 54mm inside = 22.9 cc per 10mm, = 45.8cc/10mm for two.
3", 73mm inside = 41.9cc/10mm
3.1, 76mm inside = 45.4cc/10mm
and some extra's,
2", 48mm inside = 18.1cc/10mm
2.5", 60.5mm inside = 28.8cc/10mm
3.5", 86mm inside = 58.1cc/10mm
4", 98.5mm inside = 72.2cc/10mm

But the important size is more down to the down pipe, as thats where most the heat is, so the exhaust flow is greater.

i always used to read big power spec cars, ie Martins 1st escos, and some 600 bhp norwiegen (sp) and they always had a mongoose.
