Your talking about one trader that offered you that amount are you not?
I paid nearlly 5k for a non road legal saff to break about 4 months ago and would have no doubt offered you nearer that if the spec of your car is as you describe!
Don't judge everyone by the same standards please and don't expect people to offer silly money for a car unseen either

CossieP, I myslef have a very clean 2wd saff with FSH fully bling bay, New engine. and almost everything new on the car and a bag of reciepts for the last year alone.in excess of 4K but I KNOW i wont get more that 5-5.5k for my car, Thats reality. who cares if someone offered u 3k. u didnt have to accept it so what does it matter?
In all honesty for me to pay 6k for a 2wd saff it must be something very very special or low milage std

What you talking about you don't know where £3k profit comes from Ok that's not an exact figure, but if your flogging cars for X amount then I have no doubt that you have bought that car for a LOT less and made a tidy profit (that's business) and I've no problem with that, just the AMOUNT of profit it appeared to me that someone was gonna make of my car if I'd let it go for silly money. I know you'll argue you have to cover transport costs, MOT's, fixing faults etc, etc but if you're wise you'll aviod cars with faults and buy minters which you CAN just wash and move on for a profit, don't come with the ''you've no idea how hard it is to do this........'' blah, blah if it wasn't providing the sort of figures you expected at the end of each month you wouldn't be doing it would you.

And as for having a go at you Pete, this post isn't in anyway titled toward traders input, you jumped in giving it large and simply put yourself in the firing line as a spokesman for the other traders, which I can't understand as you said yourself you didn't offer me silly money, so why didn't you just make an initial comment along the lines of '' don't tar all us traders with the same brush.......'' as opposed t your '' I've never heard such a load of bollocks, etc, etc)

Pete, I may have to draw you a picture in a minute on this one

Answers to your questions:

1) As stated the car was never for sale for a four month period (as I couldn't stand all the shit offers) so was only about four days until I made the decsision to break it.

2) I'm not telling you how much I earn or what tax bracket I'm in, what's business is that of yours

please read preceeding posts, as to why I didn't break it, I couldn't live without it , so thought lets get it back on the road again, and not let one of the traders make a tidy profit off my outlay, I'm not upset OR bitter as I said BEFORE I was pissed off AT THE TIME because of all the bollocks I was being fed.

Pete, no offence mate, let just forget it, this is going nowhere, I can see your upset.

Bottom line is I wanted to sell an honest car, traders took the piss and offered me insulting figures so I started to break it, changed my mind and am now putting it back on the road.

Well ..... Top and bottom is traders dont make the kind of proffit you think they do mate ,,
Lets say you want 4k for a car ... And thats what its worth retail
Trader offers you 2.5k
He takes it home £50 fuel ,
He has it valeted £40
He fixes the odd switch etc that dont work £50
He spends about £100 on advertising
Dont forgett his wages / staff wages / workshop overheads ( elecy, gas, rates, upkeep ) tax , mot for his van , Insurance ( mine is 3.5k a year etc etc
oh ,, he sells for the 4k retail price but takes a shitter of a car in p/x that he gave good money for ,

or he sells for cash for 3800
Dont forgett the tax he pays on his so called big big proffit @ 40%

Do the figures you idiot ,,, there isnt that much profit left is there ??????/

ps , you are aking far to much money for your car thats why traders dont give you what you want ,,, or anyone else for that matter

What did the last post say cockend ??? closed book but if you insist

Anyway, if you are concerned that you lot aren't making enough profit then do something else

And Paul, as for asking too much for my car, you and that comment represent everything that this post has been about, i.e. how can you possibly comment when you've never bloody seen it ??? and you'll also notice a couple of posts where people have sold their saffs for more than I was asking, ok admittedly retail but you traders would make the money back on breaking for parts. And who in there right mind pays £50 to fix a couple of switches and pay £40 to get it valeted, a few ecomonies in these areas might well see this so called small profit margain increase

ps , traders didnt take the piss they did as you asked and made you a offer ,,, if the offer wasnt what you wanted then either dont ask traders or ask yourself why you cant get a better offer ,
1 , your car is overpriced
2, your not advertising enough
3, your car isnt as good as you think it is ,
Whats the answer ,
Remember thousands of people do sell to traders because they dont get messed about , they get paid cash , and the deal is done in hours rather than weeks , so think of all the people who are happy they contacted a trader

pps , traders will have made you an offer based on trust ,,, trusting that the car was as you say it is ,, so now we are wrong for trusting you are we

BULLSH*T MOTHERFCUKER MY CARS THE BOMB BABY you carry on buying old tired 120k miles cars, giving them a spring clean and then flogging them to some unsuspecting punter who thinks he can tune it to 400bhp and keep it reliable

Oh and why did you stop breaking it ???? because you couldnt sell it in bits either
Just face it mate ,, you cant blame traders for offering low prices ,, if we could give top money and still cover all the overheads and still make money we all would ,,
do you go into safeways and have a go at them for there millions of proffit ???,
or call BT and moan that they are charging over the top , i dont think so

Once again Paul, ''rotten 2wd'' been round my gaff have we ??? had a butchers at the car in question ??? didn't think so, and maybe if you spent a it more time breaking all these fabulous cars of yours instead of surfing the net you may yet again increase your profits

Moral of the story, vring your overheads down only go to the bahamas once a year I don't care, just don't insult people buy offering them stupid money for cars you haven't even laid eyes on

Too right you haven't offered me a low price, as the car's not for sale, and if it was I certainly wouldn't put myself forward to be insulted by yourself offering me £2k and a mars bar to take it off my hands

It's a case of second hand car dealers from Lewisham mascarading as RS enthusiasts in order to obtain quality RS marque vehicles at drop down prices in order to maximise financial gain

Dont feel bad mate ,, either keep the car and enjoy , or sell it private and hold out for top money ,,
You have the option to cut your losses and sell to a trader and move on ,but dont blame a trader for trying to make a good life for themself ,
Also remember deals do go wrong for traders and they can loose a lot of money on a bad deal . The old fill the gearbox with sawdust and sell to a dealer does still happen . Its hard to swallow when you dont get offered your money back but it aint the traders fault you dont have to take his offer , as you didnt

and i take it given the opportunity to do the same and make some money you'd say no?
If it meant fcuking over honest people then yes
then well done, you're a saint! LOL

Paul, Pete, Spadge and Simon Honour do this as a job. do you get annoyed at the local milk man who pays 10p per pint of milk and sells it to you at 40 per pint? He's in business, self employed etc, do you begrudge that?

I think you need to work out the economics. Some people are happy for getting say £3k or whatever QUICKLY for their cossie, as they may need the money, and cant afford to wait for a few weeks etc to receive the payment.

easy chaps.........
its a fact of life, everyone is out to make money, why do you leave the
house in the morning!

to cossiep, i totally see your point, mabe the 'said' trader should have said
something on the lines of 'i dont want to insult you, but, to me your cars only really worth £xxxx, if you get stuck with it, give me a shout'

but in defence of the traders, if they have to buy a car, transport it home,
strip it (paying rent, wages etc...) sell some of the good bits pretty quick,
have the rest of the parts sat around for weeks/months etc...........
they have to bid low to make money, thats life.

i used to work for a car dealer, on a 6 grand car, we would want to make at
least a grand pure profit, if not closer to 2 grand.

99% of car dealers don't like dealing with RS's because its so much agro,
so hats off to those who do it for a passion, but make a living from it.
