Default Track Car Insurance - How do you do it?

I always had my Series 2 insured as a modified classic car so it was always pretty cheap [£500 FC, Agreed Value etc…]. Now I’ve bought the 106 I can non longer use classic car insurance [and don’t have any 2nd policy no-claims] so it’s costing me a fortune to insure as a highly modified track car!

I’ve just renewed my insurance on the track car and have limited the mileage to 5000 miles to keep the price down…..the problem is they don’t cover me for track day usage…so every time I go on track the mileage I do is taken out of the 5000 insured miles I’ve paid for on the road.

Am I missing anything here? Is there a better way to insure a 2nd track car? How does everyone else do it? I don’t want to make it a trailer only car as I do like using it on the road as well.

It doesn’t help I’ve got 2 fault claims [one a bump the other vandalism] and one non-fault claim.

Oh…and no-one seems to want to insure a stripped 106 with roll cage / buckets / big brakes / 16v conversion etc…
