Default plasma/lcd tv stands - are they taking the p1ss!?!

been looking at a new plasma tv, - now that last time i bought a CRT tv, the price included a stand (infact it was packaged with the tv - and you didnt have the option of no stand)

just look at this at comet...

http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/p....do?sku=360546

the package for just over 2K, but wait for it,,, the stand it 600 shitters!!! 3 times the price of the DVD recorder and a 1/3 of the price of the TV!!! WHAT THE FOOK?!?! its 2 bits of chipboard with silver paint on and a couple of sheets of toughened glass - 600 quid!!!! that's more than my bloody sofa was!!

is there some sort of conspiricy going on with these - nobody seriously pays that sort of money for a stand - surely?!?!

Just bought that exact one for my Girlfriend for Christmas got her the matching surround sound DVD with it too!

Stand does look great to be fair. Think the stand was only £500 though. Will check receipt.

Nowadays when im after something I look round the shops for whatever I want then go and find it on the net. Our TV stand was £150 in the shops, bought it off the net for 75 quid!

Lee, you have TOO much money. Please put it in my bank account before you do yourself some harm by buying more over priced stuff, and allow me to spend it more wisely for you, while still shaving some off for my own self gain

frankly however, why you would want to pay £1849 for a tv is beyond me!

I just bought a 37 inch plasma for £840.00, what a bargain I thought, right up until I had to find a stand for it. Currys wanted £500!!!!

Anyway, ended up on ebay buying one for £140.00 which seems a bit more reasonable I suppose.

on that link there are some cheaper stands... all depends on what you want.

plus, what's the deal with the button on the front? (or is that bit part of the TV?) Can't help thinking there must be more to it than just a stand.

you think stands are a rip off?
wall brackets are even worse
£300 for a big of metal you bolt to the wall?
fook that, i bought one from ebay for £48 and it's rgeat

but the telly is too bastard heavy to lift to hook it up

but seriously, for that sort of money, you should be investing in some sort of carpenter to build you a proper unit to put all your stuff into
