This is all brown nosing bollocks...

If a MkII Granada can get with 2mph of his terminal speed and run 10.2 on pump fuel... then drive home to Ireland with all his mates in the car and their camping gear..

Thats where the respect should be...

Especially as the MkII Granada has the aero dynamics of a house brick...... and he's made no effort to lighten it... its still got the original factory spot lights on it....

I love this forum.... the Big Budget Builders are worshiped.. but if anyone trys to sell a proper car for proper money they get slated....

Forums....

And Phil... wiping your arse with 'Chip Paper' is not advisable, its all greasy and there is no absorbancy so it will just get smeared up your back...

Was chatting to Simon at the Pod and he was also slatting his front diff. He said it always lights up the front left wheel and he finds it really really hard to keep in a straight line. So he has a few ideas for improving that as well. Yeah on the clutch front he said he was kicking himself as he only had a part worn one to put in.

In my opinion I almost think he has got too much power off the line. The car virtually jumps off the floor with all the wheels spinning franticly. If he had less off the line to let the clutch bite and also allow the tyres to have some kind of hope of holding onto the road, maybe he would be faster to.

He said his launch control holds the car at 6,000rpm, he holds it on the handbrake to try and build some boost up and then simply side steps the clutch and looses the handbrake. Maybe a few less revs would help out with the traction issues. Mind you I bet it is a fine line between wheelspin and bogging down with a turbo that size.

Neil, sorry mate, but who the fuck gives a shit about an old shed of a Mk2 Granada!!!!

I think that granada is a cool car, but at the end of the day its a V8, not a little 2.x litre turbo charged rally slag type engine, running a 10 with a V8 on a budget is cool, but running a 9 with a 2 litre lump is just far harder, so therefore more likely to be talked about.

I dont think that saying its a cool car is "brown nosing" its just appreciating a cool car.

Car of the year for me

I saw him run a 10.06 @ 149mph

And his launches could of been much harder if he wasnt worried about his prop joint. Its defo got a 9sec in it.

The Norris evo is still a mega car though and every credit to him.

The datron gear measures actual speed as far as im aware whilst the pod measures a last 66ft averaged speed so should show a slower terminal at the pod.

I was only curious as to how close the ET time's were.

The Granny is a great car, but the Norris car is an alround car capable of winning Totb. The Granny topped out in the 180's & probably cried when faced with the handling circuit. Its horses for courses the Granny is great at its chosen discipline. The Norris car is not a drag car.

Impressive car
Does the Norris car run NOS?
Also, does anyone know where it came in the Time Attack series this year?

As an all rounder though I currently working on Keith Cowies Skyline and thats a very good all rounder thats run 9.0@157, sure to better that next year also

Well done to Simon Norris though as the car is very impressive.

I remember following Keiths car from Dundee up towards Aberdeen one day, looks crazy to see it on the road with just the one headlight in. Think he must of been doing some running in or something but just shows that it can and does get used on the road. Awsome car

Thats not Rod's account mate, its his mechanic.

But yes while you are on the subject its very much like rods car in that its great at one or two things rather than be good at a bit of everything like your last car was (and no doubt current one will be even better at)

Easy! The dogs name is 'brom'!

And posted under PH's name was this'''

Hi
Chip has just phoned to say about this thread

Yes in theory mine could beat that around 231 the maths say.
BUT in practice a deffo no !!

At the mo have done 210 in 1.41 miles & that means about 14secs on the throttle from say 175 to 210. To reach 227 would take around another 20+secs so that would be 35+s total in 5th at 100% throttle with around 900bhp ( Mark has just turned grey & passed out). In distance at over 100m/sec would take about 1.5miles so over 3miles to reach it.
Can I suggest the wings would have fallen off & the chassis broken in two by this stage .
Buy the Mercedes lads its less trouble.

We met the development hack for this engine at an event at Brunters, it ran a 188 best I believe. We would tan its butt big time at 1.5 miles but beyond that 7 litres is what its about.
Rod

ps. This is not my user name, PH is my mechanic, who helps prepare my car for events & has recently started dating my daughter ( I wondered why he was so keen to keep coming round). Hes a Seat Leon & not a Cossie man but will keep me posted on threads like this one, more Technical than banter. Hes just got a job with the Red Bull F1 outfit , so my car may become un-reliable overnight.
pps. Am enjoying my break from PF it becomes a habit & believe me its a relief when you break it. Ive lots on at the mo so no desire to start logging on again. When I stop work in March I may feel differently.

no shit eh sherlock

Martin when Rod posted he signed it as Rod, the fact it wasnt signed as Rod this time is what led me to say i didnt know if it was him this time.

FPMSL @ calling your dog Brom, i take it that is cause the dog is also a slender young pup who has a lot of luck with the ladies?

I cant picture you drinking without Lee there for you to kiss, doesnt seem natural

Yes it was Martin. Paul tells me when a tasty thread comes up. I dont pretend mine is a competition car, its not. Prefer mine too the EVO, Granny or even your Escort, they are all great cars for what they were built for, but too many compromises for the street for me, ive double sound-proofed mine, adds weight, but i need a bit of quiet in my old age, each to his own.

disagree with the brown nosing comment,i dont know simon from shit but i still say its an awsome bit of kit,but i do love the granny too.purely because its been done on a budget and is still fully trimmed but more because its not your every day choice of car for doing a quarter in.you cant take anything away from either car i dont think.

Because the diffs arent doing their job to equal the speed of the wheels?

would it not been down to the the fact the n/s/f is the shorter shaft out of the to and therefore spining up alo quicker than the o/s/f

diff can compensate for the shorter shaft and thats why it spins ?

complete guess BTW ?

Read Seans post about front Diff... maybe its that?
but why is it spinning one tyre on the front?
would it not been down to the the fact the n/s/f is the shorter shaft out of the to and therefore spining up alo quicker than the o/s/f

complete guess BTW ?
Yes, but thats what a decent diff is supposed to negate, plus the shafts are probably near equal length anyway due to the transfer box going on what would otherwise be the "long shaft" side.

Because the diffs arent doing their job to equal the speed of the wheels?
i agree,, but why,, one wheel might have less weight on it due to the torque through the chassis
