As far as I'm aware Martin didn't do the floor work on his Mondeo. Or the roll cage in his Escort... In both occasions I expect it wasn't so much because he couldn't do it, but because there was someone who was better equipped, could do it faster and had more experience in those types of jobs..?
The Veyron gearbox was designed and made by English firm Ricardo. Does that mean you're no longer impressed by Bugatti?

Figures are amazing.
I imagine Ł100K is for parts alone. God knows how many hours are in this car so far.
Id like to think the Norris Evo develops a damn sight more than the Veyrons 125BHP per litre
Hell I dont even think the W16 would fit too well in the SWB Evo! Its a sodding massive lump!
A dont know if the DSG system is harder or easier on clutches (2 units). I would guess harder, as its a faster change

sorry im still impressed by the work he has done and the ideas he has put into it,, but the thought of someone fabricating a shortwheel base car and getting it too work correctly, building the engine, mapping the engine, and building a complete package is breathtaking, so when i was told he didnt build the chassis i wasnt SO impressed by whats been made

Outstanding performance for a road car a huge well done to Simon, One quick question does he use different suspention set ups for days like this where strieght line performance is the order of that day than he uses at say time attack this year?

So a set of Mickey Thompson ET's or similar on a 15" rim would take a second off his time pretty easily i should think IF he can fit a clutch that would take the strain.
Definately got the potential for an 8, couldnt agree more

All I know at the moment is that when we handed over the Ł4000+ for the kit I was told it was accurate to 0.1mph, whether that be at 1mph or 1000mph.
I have Datron Vs Santa Pod (TSI I believe?) data for at least 7 runs, so want to crunch those numbers first too...

Ref Mickey Ts etc. I heard a rumour that the MSA or similar organisation has banned them from 'road legal' type competition classes?
With a clean launch, new clutch, no head wind and faultless set of gear changes I reckon there's an 8 in that car with the 18s. Don't forget it's already run a 9.6 @ Santa Pod with less power...

With regards to the ET, i believe pod actually measures slightly in front of the line, so again that sounds exactly how you would expect.

Not much good having road legal tyres that arent road useable.

Awesome car and hats off to Simon.
As regards to timing gear.......
I have done a fair bit of testing with the Racelogic equipment from the last half of this years season. Testing the equipment at various venues including a couple of rounds of Time Attack, Tuner Grand Prix and also at Avon Park Raceway Drag Strip (along with various testing at Bruntingthorpe).
All I can say is that the Racelogic Driftbox rocks..... big style (and dont be put off by the fact it is called the "Driftbox").
Around Silverstone (on two TA rounds) and Snetterton (for Tuner Grand Prix), it was as accurate as you could ask for against the tracks own timing equipment. You can set the start/finish line as a GPS position once and then you just keep driving, so it will update your current lap time and also give you splits (if setup) and your overall fastest lap to date etc.
At Avon Park Raceway (don't forget this is also a FIA approved dragstrip, so should be as comparable against the timing gear used at Santa Pod) it was recording times within a nats cock of the official timing gear (I did this in October at AP, but I am sure it was because the times are only to 1 decimal place, so it was rounding up, but the speed was bang on).
The Driftbox uses GPS and has some really good features like overlaying GPS data against background maps and also track maps that are available (so you can see the lines you took etc). Obviously all captured data is available to download to PC to compare.
Now.... the beauty of this is, is that it only costs about Ł460!!!!!
Whilst I have not tested this against Datron stuff myself (I have been told by others it is AS accurate), the fact that the Datron stuff costs 10 times as much, I guess you can see how good this Racelogic stuff is.
