Default breather problem? on a cvh

i have put the rs turbo in my cabby, and when the engine turns over (not firing up as there is no fuel pump), the oil cap lifts up and down in time with the compression on a cylinder.

i had fitted a new headgasket, not because there was a problem with the old one, but i did it for peace of mind...

is the head going to have to come off again? is it a breather prob?

doesnt sound too good mate, if it were a breather problem that bad then the rings would be fucked anyway

I'd start with a compression test and take it from there. Test it dry first then put some oil down the cylinder through the sparkplug hole and try it again. If the compression the second time round is higher than the first the rings are there way out.

sounds like rings at the very least .. could be a damaged piston at worst.. but as you have done a head gasket on it... then it looks like rings

hmm... but why would they be fooked when the engine was fine before hand?

when i lifted the bottom end and box out of the bay, it spun upside down, which resulted in a bit of oil seeping past the rings. i wiped off all i could before i refitted the head.

the engine hasnt been started yet as i am trying to solve the lack of power to and from the fuel pump relay.

maybe if i start the engine, itll clear it?
