Default lap timing gear. what do you use? (software links?)

donny say the start/finish infra-red beacon is switched off for Trackdays.
so if you have this type of timer it won't work at start/finish and getting a beacon on the pit wall/grandstand to trigger your timer is unlikely.
a laptop and gps would be a good combo to use but i just can't find any software?
what ya got ?

kit i think the cheapest with good accuracy/features is the racelogic driftbox, but the display is too dull and small for quick glance reading, if only it can be linked to a laptop and realtime data be shown on the laptop full screen , obviously having a laptop floating in the car is not good so i have a mounted 7" screen that connects to the laptop vga output and the laptop strapped down.

If you want to do stuff like that HIRE the circuit.

Please DONT do it on a trackday. As soon as they find out your using timing gear you could get booted off.

Trackdays are officially NON timed events and we would want them to stay that way because of the various levels of skill in the drivers out at any one time

Now having said that we use the ones from Intercomp when testing
