Default Escort GTI's

looking at getting an escort GTI as a runner, they seem quite well specced up.

whats best to be looking for on them?
does the spec alter slightly on different years?
and whats a realistic price to be looking at paying - example, an R reg with about 70 - 80k on the clock, and 3door?

Cheers

Kelvin.

We have a R plate GTI as our daily runner, and its so nice to drive, air con, half leather, power steering, its heaven

We gave £1250 for ours but tbh we did well, im sure you can pick them up for around £1500-2k in good condition.

heres a pic of ours

The only thing i would say is check insurance as for some reason they wanted the same on the gti as i paid on my 3dr cossie

Thats a nice one sassy

As above about the prices, which is why i said the silver one sounds good in pm

Think insurance is more down to location and which company because im not paying too much(430 a year, fully comp with norwich union,5yrs no claims and im 22) so its not bad for a group 13 car

GTi_iTG
yeh we did well for what we paid, and its been spot on, never let us down at all.

U get alot of car for the money with these, and tbh i prefer to drive the GTI to my frst as its easier (i've got to used to power steering)

LOL.

does look good tho Sassy.

they seem a nice spec car for the money - but the money varies quite greatly.

found a few which appear to be nice examples to go and view.

and insurance only seems to be about £300 so cant complain at that

no mate, not selling the cossie. just fed up of the little runner. and cossie is on hold for a while.

cant really go spending any money on it with the insecurities of work at the moment.

the're lovely reliable cars tbh, i had a couple of mk6 si's and they are essentially the same car- just no sideskirts and half leather.
Mine never missed a beat and was very comfortable until i put 17s on it and dropped it on bilstein hard springs/shocks
