Default Problems already!

Bought a 2wd Sapph cos on Tuesday and when driving home from work today it dropped on to 3 cylinders.

It runs fine under full throttle in a straight line but on 3 at light throttle and low revs. If you corner right it runs fine but corner left it will drop on to 3 again. I had a quick look at the plug leads (first thought) and they seem fine, never had a proper look into it cos its cold and wet outside and I cant be arsed to be out in the street covered in oil tonight. Anyone had this problem before or have some idea as to what it could be?

Thanks in advance.

ern that was what mine was like but only round corners etc not in straight line before getting it set up etc last wk was due to not getting enough fuel running lean as fcuk lol or just try the easy things 1st like a set of plugs etc.

Its had no bother in the 300 odd mile I done in it up to now. Just wondered if there may be a sensor with a loose connection or somethin similar that could cause it?

I did flick the arse end out about a minute before it started acting up.

The inertia switch cant only half trip can it?

ive had bad connections on the top of the spark plugs in the past.

if its running rough on tickover, pull off each lead one at a time to see which cylinder has the problem.

Been round the full engine bay checking making sure all connention plugs are on well. Cheked the ignition leads, they fine too. Spark plugs have a really big gap which will be attended to shortly when I can get a lend of some feela blades. The car idles fine on tickover (most of the time) miss fires at really low revs and light throttle but runs fine when its under heavy throttle and boost.

Wondering if it may be plug gap, but surely that would be the opposite? Run ok at low revs but miss under boost?

Starting to do my head in now.

sounds like it might be overfueling..

best to spend some cash and get a PROPER set up at a good roling road(not just your local garage)

this will save you lots of hassle and heartache in the long run.

Yeah I forgot how much fun it could be

I think its overfuelling like a right bastard, big clouds of black smoke when it drops to 3. Smells really rich.

could have a point there, mine did it years ago, shite rocker gasket leaked oil into the plug space and it went down to 2/3 occasionally. Took me weeks to sort it out, changed everyting else until i noticed

Was a right pain in the arse at the time. Never fit a non Ford rocker gasket, they leak
If there is oil around the collar of the plug then it will probably be the problem, if not then I think you need to get it diagnosed by a pro if everything else has been changed

This is really doing my bonce in now!!!!!

Can see me sending it to a garage on Monday cos Im fookin sick, just wanna play in my new toy not fart about on the drive in the dark.

Thought it may have been the lead arcing out on the inlet manifold where it goes on the dizzy, this was a recurrent problem on my last one. Couldnt see anything but wrapped it in insulating tape nevertheless, still no better. Leads are only a few weeks old too.

Goona have a look at injector wiring in the morning.

Just had to use it to take my girlfriend home, cos its pissin down and theres no chance of gettin a taxi at 1am on Sat night/Sun morn, and I noticed its not running its normal vacuum. Its a bit less than normal, could this be caused by a vac leak or is it just cos its only running on 3? Wonder if its disturbed a loose pipe when I put it sideways? Suppose it would explain why it runs shit until its in boost too.

Gonna go round all vac and boost pipes making sure thet all tight and leak free.

Fingers crossed

proper ruined my day!!

took the connector of and gave the connections a clean and bobs your mothers brother!
back to running sweet as a nut!!!

sounds like the same problem, seems to be running on 3 and chucks loads o fuel through the exhaust.

worth a try, hope you get it sorted mate!

Cool, Ill give that a bash too.

Think I saw the vac pipe for the map sensor, where it goes on to plenum was possibly loose too.

Mine ran on 3 at tick over, but if reved it was ok.

Turned out to be a burnt out exhaust valve.

Do a compression test mate.

Good luck
