the fuel distributor 9the thing that bolts to the metering head) should be a sealed unit.. the only thing that touches the metering head is a push rod thingie, so no fuel should leak out fo the fuel distributor.

i think new/reconed fuel distributors are about 300ish quid (theyre NOT serviceable) speak to your nearest bosch dealer

there is a seal mate, and they often go. Stu has got some, but he's away at the moment - but think kenny is there so give MD a call. While u have it off, make sure the plunger is going in and out nice and smooth and not gunked up.

there's nothing's mysterious about the fuel distributor if you open it. A couple of o-rings and a main gasket that can be changed.

do a search on google for kjetronic metering head and youll find a webpage someone put up describing in intricate detail how to rebuild the fuel dizzy...

please note that the last section states "after i did all this i put i abck together and it leaked and it was fucked so i threw it in the bin and bought a new one"

i shit you not... theyre not a user serviceable item..

Yes, there is supposed to be an o-ring in between of the distributor and the main body, but it's not for keeping the petrol in. It's just for keeping the dirt out. If you're getting petrol as far as the o'ring, then something else is fooked in the distributor itself.
