Anyone know about PDS's / GPS
Right
I don't know anything about PDA's / GPS / Mobile Phones / Organisers etc....etc....BUT I've decided I want one for Christmas
I want it to do the following:
- Be a phone [using my existing mobile number [Vodaphone Sim]
- Sat-Nav [not that fussed]
- Road Angel [Speed Camera Detector] - v important
- Sync with outlook
- Recieve/send e-mails
Seriously I do about 25'000 business miles a year so the GPS/Sat-Nav/Road Angel will be useful, as will the Outlook/E-Mails/Organiser etc...
Can anyone give me an overview of whats what?
Which are the best models to go for?
Do I have to pay extra for subscriptions?
I want to spend about £200-£250...will that get me what I want?
I was looking at these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...4282&rd=1&rd=1

Neither of those two have phone functionality (so you can only email once docked, or have wireless connection etc. and no phone obviously), and personally I'd steer clear of HP iCraps.....
I'd look at the HTC/XDA(02)/MDA(T-Mobile)/SPV M (Orange)/etc. series - some are quite big comapre to normal phones but have a slightly bigger screen, and some regular phone size.
There's the new O2 Orbit (and counterparts on other networks or sim free) with a built in GPS receiver, but that's gonna cost a bit.

I looked at an all in one solution, but found that I was better off getting a pda for the pda stuff and a seperate phone.
Ive got a ipaq 2490 with tomtom for satnav and a n80 for general phone. Ipaq has got all the toys built in with an external gps reciever in the car.
Does the job perfectly

I'm assuming if I get one thats a phone also I will have to ugrade my contract to something a bit flashier?
I'm not that fussed about it being a phone also....might just go for the Sat-Nav and PDA.
So what you're saying is that if its not a phone it has to have Wi-Fi capability to use t'internet? Or I can only use the internet at home when plugged into my PC [which isn't much good to me tbh!]

sat nav i.e tomtom, garmin, navman are just sat nav but if you buy one with bluetooth you will be able to use it to connect to your existing mobile phone if your phone also has bluetooth if youve got ten mins nip in to curries or comet and a salesman should be able to tell you which one to get, these stores sell pdas aswell as sat nav

Not necessarily, depends on current features (GPRS data etc)

Both/Either, but even with Wi-Fi you'll also need an available Wi-Fi network.....

Legend
If Jaycos comes on here singing about the MDA Vario that T-mobile offer, bitch slap him!
It's fucking useless and if he wasn't such a massive scary looking bloke I'd take the one I got round his house and stick it in his bum [although he'd probably enjoy that].
The Sat Nav on it is ok though
But avoid the MDA Vario [the screen bleeds, it's slow, I've lost about 47 stylus', the phone on it is fucking atrocious and fiddly, the text messaging on the flip out board is also fiddly and makes you look like a total mong].

I got Nokia N73. Payed £40 for bluetooth gps reciever and got tom tom 6 free (souced off net) plus latest speed camera locations and laser hot spots. Can also use tom tom traffic etc etc. I think its very good. Can buy excluding phone for bout £110 but i saved few pennies finding software elsewhere.
