Default Anyone ever had a Toyota Sera ?

Its a funny little car with Gull Wing doors....

Chap I know imports Jap cars as a hobby and he had one on his drive when I was over there.

Seemed quite a novelty, dont know if the missus would like it...

my mate has had one for the past 4 years & he loves it...

but from my point of view in the summer its like driving a green house with all the windows & the rams on the doors have been replaced on his sera & it is absolutly no use for someone getting in the back or for tall blokes....but to sound cheesey you wanna see the looks you get when your jumping out of the things

IIRC they were a limited run concept type car. Not mass production. Suppose that could be why they only seem to be owned by enthusiasts.

What I could find, they did about 16,000 so not that limited.

Just wondered what they were like to live with as there is a chance I could get this quite cheap.

Was wondering what they go like and what the economy is like on them....

I think all the glass would give the feel of a Cabrio, just without the wind messing up your barnet.... not that there is much of my boufont to ruffle... but you know what girls are like.

I guess it must get fookin hot in the summer... and real chilly in the winter too....

A mates missus has one and has had it for a few years now.

They are pretty good cars, not too expensive to run I think they share a lot of parts with the paseo. They arent exactly rapid, especially with the slush box fitted which the vast majority do. They can be made a LOT quicker by dropping in the engine from a starlet turbo which is supposed to be pretty easy.

They certainly do attract attention with the butterfly doors (not gullwing ) though still a bit of a birds car. There is a very active forum and owners club, I dont know the web addy though

McLaren bought one when they were designing the F1 road car as they wanted to know how the doors worked.
