I forgot about the depreciation of the MAC boxes! They don't usually hold their value too well round here although as they increase in popularity, they may hold value a bit better.

I prefere my Snap On box for the security too.

IMO MAC hand tools are pants. I like the test equipment like the top end multimeters (I have 2 EM720 multimeters and an EM400 clamp meter). I like the Turbomax drill bit range they do and I like the Knipex side cutters they sell (although Snap On have started selling them). I also bought loads of Tona spanners from my MAC dealer. Other than that my 2 tool boxes are full of Snap On, the odd Teng, Beta, Britool, Sykes sockets and spanners.

No mate I just have 11 years experience of MAC and Snap On tools!

I used to be biased towards MAC as that was what I was used to in my first job as an apprentice (the technician I was working with owned all MAC tools). However as I changed jobs and was put with people who used Snap On stuff and had Snap On tool boxes, I prefered how the Snap On stuff sits in your hand (more comfortable).

I still maintain that the Snap On boxes are of a higher quality than even the current MAC tool boxes. If you park my KRL next to the MAC tool box at our workshop and open a few drawers, you can see and feel the difference in every aspect about the box, and that's not opinion. The MAC box I am comparing to is the same box as the Aston box in this thread. I'd even go for my KRA box over the Mustang MAC box at our workshop simply because of the very very poor paint. Maybe the top end MAC boxes are better.

James, well if you had a Snap On box, you'd have struggled to lock your keys in it unless you was a complete and utter spastic!

Well, it goes a little like this, first day i had it all unpacked, draw liners put in blah blah blah, go to lock it up at end of the day. Now i hadn't actually noticed how many sets of keys were supplied and where they were.
Soo i looked at the top box which has 2 locks, 1 for each compartment, each with the same number. whilst the bottom box had a different key number.
So i openned a draw pulled out 2 sets of keys then shut the draw. Now as you will know you can lock the box but still have draws open until you close them.

Anyways it seems the bottom box where the keys were was actually locked already and when i closed the draw this then automaticly locked that draw. But not a problem cos i had 2 sets of keys in my hand? right? only went to unlock the bottom box and the fucking keys didn't fit the lock, checked the numbers and they suplied 2 keys for each lock, meaning i had 2 sets of 2 keys for the top box [all the same] and just 2 keys for the bottom box which were still in the draw, the now locked draw To say a felt a prize prick was a understatement but a easy mistake to make a guess.

It was just fucking lucky i hadn't filled it with tools!

p.s. i bought one of those 18v guns the other week, money well spent for sure!

Would never sell my tools though

Just had a chat with my MAC dealer. He even admitted that unless you buy a Macsimizer box, the Tech1000 and 4000 series boxes are not as good a quality as the Snap On KRL. He recons the Tech 1000 is as good as the KRA box though which I almost agree on and the 4000 is just a budget biscuit tin...

Gareth, you wanna see Snap On's finance deals and the spastics that get suckered with them!! Last time I checked it was something around 45% APR!!! And some retards are happy to pay that and think thay are getting a good deal!!!

At least MAC have a much much better finance package for people who need it!

Here's mine (not bothered taking the white vinyl off to reveal the stainless silver).

Made by CSPS. Not quite got the bling factor of a Snap On, but I could probably get 3 of these for the same as it would cost if it was red and had a Snap On badge!

By far the best box on this thread mate!

i'm not sure what mine is, i thought all mac special editions were tech 1000 boxes tarted up?
Yes they are mate. The 4000 is the cheaper end and the Macsimizer is the top end. They used to do a 2000 but that really was terrible.
